'American Auto' Is Canceled After Its Second Season

Earlier this month, Ana Gasteyer reacted to the show's cancelation by retweeting the news from Deadline that the show had been canceled. "NBC has opted not to proceed with a third season of its workplace comedy series #AmericanAuto, created and executive produced by Superstore creator Justin Spitzer," they tweeted.

"I really loved this opportunity - everyone on the creative team, the writers, the crew, and of course, the ensemble made magic. Lucky me," she tweeted along with a red heart emoji. Fans were quick to express support for the canceled show, including "Star Wars" actor Mark Hamill.

"HORRIBLE News! One of my favorite comedies in years was smart, well written & expertly performed by a brilliant ensemble cast," he tweeted. "Oh- one more thing: it was always VERY FUNNY. Fingers crossed it gets picked up elsewhere like Brooklyn 99 & Taxi." Hamill closed off his tweet with the hashtag "Everything I Like Gets Cancelled."

Shortly after, they both took to Twitter to share the news that fans had created a petition to bring the show back on another network.

“Me too! It’s a great comedy - reminds me of Seinfeld, 30 Rock, Arrested Development, and Parks & Recreation. Huge potential for years of funny!!!!” one fan commented. “Thanks for your support of this awesome show!” another follower wrote as other fans voiced their agreement.

The petition currently has 670 signatures, which is just a little bit short of their goal of 1,000 signatures. Fans were quick to list their reasons for signing in the comments of the change.org petition, and Mark Hamill was actually listed as the reason at least one fan signed.
