On her 44th birthday, Kaling posted an adorable photo of her 5-year-old daughter Katherine "Kit" Swati and her 2-year-old son Spencer Avu as they walked alongside her, each pulling a small suitcase.

While expressing her deep appreciation for her kids, The "Mindy Project" star wrote in the caption, "I know I'm materialistic, but these two guys are the best birthday gift to me for the rest of my life. I was never a 'kid' person. When my mom passed, it clicked in me: I wanted kids with such intense certainty. I bet some of you can relate."

As a devoted mother, Kaling shared her commitment to maintaining an active lifestyle despite the challenges of parenthood. She said, "Now I'm just trying to be present for them (hard for me! I'm impatient!), being up for anything (again hard for me, I am not whimsical!), and stay healthy for these two guys (ALSO hard! I just want to eat cheesesteaks every meal in front of the TV) for until I'm an old gray skeleton [and] they're like, 'Mom, you gotta go.' "

The actress also opened up about her doctor's assessment of her health, which turned out to be a wonderful birthday gift. She expressed her excitement by sharing, "My doctor told me that this year I was the healthiest I've been in years. That's a pretty damn good gift. I'm usually low-level anxious, so I will take one minute on my birthday to acknowledge that I am happy."

Acknowledging life's inevitable ups and downs, Kaling shared her gratitude for the positive moments she's currently experiencing. "Man, there are ups and downs in this life!! But my ups seem to be the most important right now," she continued. "Thanks for my birthday, love. (Also, maybe I will buy myself that trendy Dior bag that looks like a kidney bean)."

In an interview with People magazine, Kaling shared details about her significant "commitment" to her health and how it has boosted her confidence.

The "Never Have I Ever" creator expressed her newfound body confidence. "I'm feeling confident in my body these days, which is not something that I've been able to say for my whole life, unfortunately," she said. "I feel great."

Kaling went on to talk about people's interest in her body transformation and said she found it flattering. "I know people are interested in my body and the changes in my body, and I think it's flattering, and sometimes it's just a little much, so I don't try to tune it in too much."

She continued, "The truth is that I spend so much time and energy trying to be healthy."

As someone who loves indulging in culinary adventures and exploring new foods, Kaling shared that she practices moderation to preserve the results of her workouts.

The "Ocean's 8" star admitted that juggling her busy schedule, caring for her two children, and finding time for exercise is a "really a big commitment."

However, she has found a way to incorporate physical activity into her routine by waking up early and making it a priority. "It's hard with two kids that I wake up early, and I fit it in," she shared. She humorously added, "I live in workout clothes, so I can get it in, get an extra mile in."

To stay motivated, Kaling sets goals for herself. She said, "I just tell myself I have to do 20 miles a week of either hiking or running. And so that's been incredibly helpful to me."
