Andy Cohen Comes To Meghan Markle's Defense
Andy Cohen quickly defended Meghan Markle against a rumor that she faked interviews in her "Archetypes" podcast. The "Watch What Happens Live" host was one of the guests who appeared on the Duchess' show in 2022 and brushed the rumor away, calling it "insane."
While speaking with Us Weekly, Cohen said, "Of course, I [spoke with Markle], And she definitely [interviewed me]. That's an insane rumor. Her podcast is about conversations with people. How would she not have? Of course, she did." The TV host further said he saw Meghan as "well informed" and "quite well researched" during their conversation.
Earlier this week, a report by PodNews claimed that several of Meghan's interviews for the podcasts were done by her staff and not her. The rumors claimed that editors later included Meghan's voice in the edited episodes.
A Journalist Claimed Meghan Markle Didn't Interview Her
Meghan's podcast featured multiple high-profile celebrities, but it's not the first time people have questioned the authenticity of the interviews, especially her contribution. The rumors started in August 2022, when Allison Yarrow, one of the guests from the podcast, claimed Meghan didn't interview her.
Yarrow, a New York journalist, claimed in a social media post that a member of Meghan's production company interviewed her. The journalist featured in the "To 'B' or not to 'B'?" episode of the podcast in which she and Meghan explored the "origins and plague" of the word "bi**h."
Yarrow claimed she spoke with Farrah Safari, an audio producer on Meghan's team. She shared a photo of herself in front of an audio production company's sign and also thanked Farrah for being an "excellent interviewer" to her.
Andy Cohen & Meghan Markle Addressed A Rumor Of Her Joining The 'Housewives' Franchise
During Cohen's interview with Meghan, they talked about the famous "Housewives" franchise from Bravo and rumors of her possibly joining the series.
Cohen said, "Everyone is like: 'Oh, she should join the Beverly Hills housewives. And I'm like: 'She ain't joining the Beverly Hills housewives, everybody. That's not happening. She's Meghan Markle.'"
In response, Meghan stated that she wasn't aware of the rumors and would never agree to a reality show about her life.
The topic of "Housewives" arose because of the Duchess' past comment about being a fan of "The Real Housewives of Orange County."
According to Page Six, Cohen also admitted he regretted not having Meghan on "WWHL," during her days on the law drama, "Suits," and before her romance with Prince Harry started. The Bravo producer called it one of the "biggest blunders in the 13 years of the show."
Spotify Ended Its Partnership With The Duke & Duchess Of Sussex
Last week, Spotify and Markle released a joint statement confirming they had ended their partnership. The statement read that both parties have "mutually agreed to part ways and are proud of the series we made together."
Meghan and her husband, Prince Harry, first signed their over $20 million deal with Spotify in 2020. Insiders claimed to the Wall Street Journal that the couple failed to meet the productivity benchmark Spotify requires for a total payout.
WME, Meghan's new talent agency, also spoke to the WSJ about the end of their partnership. They said, "The team behind Archetypes remains proud of the podcast they created at Spotify. Meghan continues developing more content for the Archetypes audience on another platform."
The first season of "Archetypes" had 12 episodes with several celebrity guests. These included Mariah Carey, Trevor Noah, Judd Apatow, Mindy Kaling, and her close friend, Tennis legend Serena Williams. The final episode of the podcast was released on November 29th, 2022.
