Despite their openness about their marriage, Mark Consuelos and Kelly Ripa have certain topics they choose not to discuss on their show, "Live! with Kelly and Mark." The couple, who have found their rhythm as co-hosts, revealed to Daily Mail that they have boundaries when it comes to their on-air conversations.

Consuelos, 52, explained, "We feel like we know how much people want to hear and what they don't need to hear." He added that they had developed subtle cues to communicate with each other during filming. The actor emphasized his point, saying, "When you have been married for so long, you just know what line not to cross. You recognize a look or a feeling and you know not to go there."

However, Consuelos clarified that their goal on the show is to maintain authenticity, openness, and honesty. He said, "But the goal of this show is for us to be real, open, and honest. If people are put off by how frank we are, I think they would be way more put off if we were just feeding them BS."

Ever since Consuelos took over as the host alongside Ripa on "Live!," their dynamic has sparked numerous headlines. From playful quips about their sex life to candid revelations about their personal experiences, the talk show couple has not shied away from sharing their lives with viewers. This openness has been well-received by many, although some have needed more time to adjust.

When addressing the negative online commentary about their hosting, the "Riverdale" actor reassured that he and Ripa remain unfazed. "We've also been doing this for so long," he said. "I remember going through bags of fan mail at 'All My Children,' and people had no problem telling you if they thought you were a good actor or a bad actor. We're used to it."

He continued, "People will always have opinions, but we have a good sense if we're doing a good job or not and ratings are the ultimate judge at the end of the day. As long as the ratings are great and we feel good, that's all that matters. So no, it doesn't affect us."

Working together is nothing new for the power couple, who originally found love while portraying on-screen partners on the beloved soap opera, "All My Children." With their return to collaborating full-time on "Live!," Consuelos and Ripa have come full circle in their careers.

However, despite their enduring 27-year marriage, the decision for Consuelos to join the show as Ripa's permanent co-host wasn't made without careful consideration. The "Husband for Hire" actor revealed they engaged in numerous discussions, weighing the pros and cons.

"The conversation [about me joining the show] ran the gamut," Consuelos shared. "We said to one another, 'We're married, should we be doing this? Is it a good idea for us to work together?'"

"But each objection we had it was like, well we've done this before. We worked together on 'All My Children' for years on what was a much more intensive schedule, we were on-screen love interests… we said if we can survive 12, 13-hour days of that, we know we can survive this," he concluded.

Amid their joint work on the show, Consuelos and Ripa actively strive to prioritize family time. When discussing his plans for Father's Day, Consuelos shared how their family dynamic has evolved. "As the kids have gotten older, schedules are a little crazier," he explained.

"My eldest son is working, he's actually not in the country, but we'll do a catch-up a few days after, I'll get a Father's Day hug and we'll do a phone call. I love that he's off working though, he's doing a great job."

As for their Father's Day traditions, Consuelos emphasized that they keep things relaxed and unstructured, "We don't do anything that's structured, we'll do a meal together like brunch or dinner and I usually get some really nice cards, really funny cards. I'm always spoiled that day," he shared.

He continued, per Daily Mail, "I always tell Kelly not to get me a gift but she always gets me something really nice. She's great."
