Ne-Yo And Ex-Wife Not Reconciled, Despite Public Appearance Together

Is history repeating itself with singer Ne-Yo and his ex-wife, Crystal Renay? The answer is negative! 

The R&B star, whose real name is Shaffer Chimere Smith, and Renay first tied the knot in 2016, but Renay filed for a divorce in 2020. However, after welcoming a daughter, they reconciled and renewed their vows in April 2021 with an elaborate ceremony. The reunion was short-lived, as the duo ended their marriage again earlier this year.

Recently, they were seen together, which begs the question of whether the former couple has again put aside their differences. Keep reading to find out more!

Reconciliation speculations about the "So Sick" singer and his ex-wife were sparked after they were recently spotted at the opening of their restaurant Johnny's Chicken and Waffles' newest location. However, TMZ reported that the ex-couple didn't reunite to rekindle their romance.

Instead, their joint public appearance was strictly professional as the former lovers remained cordial for their children. A source close to the estranged couple told the news outlet of the situation between them. "Ne-Yo and Crystal are not back together, and they were both at the restaurant opening because they are co-owners, and it's in their contracts."

The insider further shared that Ne-Yo and Crystal are dating and seeing other people. However, they continue to co-parent their three children and remain business partners. 

Ne-Yo and Renay's public appearance comes two months after the dancer seemingly welcomed a second child with his mistress, Sade. When the social media sensation put out pictures of her new son, some of Ne-Yo's fans sourced out for all connections that the singer was the father.

The photos Sade posted showed her sweetly cradling her newborn. Captioning the post, she wrote, "Hey, Brixton. I loooooove you, pooh…welcome home, my beautiful baby." Although the influencer kept her baby daddy's identity away from the post, fans could not help but notice the striking similarities between the newborn and the "Miss Independent" singer.

"Congratulations, he looks like @neyo," a fan penned while another compared the baby to one of Renay's three children. "Congratulations. Yep, Neyo is the pappy. He looks just like his sibling from Neyo's ex-wife," the individual wrote.

The Shade Room also took to their Instagram, putting out more evidence that the famed songwriter may be the father of the model's son. The post was a collage featuring Sade's pregnancy announcement, a picture of her newborn son, and a snap of the R&B singer. 

Underneath the post, it was noticeable that Ne-Yo liked her post. The gesture from the 43-year-old hitmaker made fans suggest that he was the child's father. 

After just five months of separating, the former lovebirds' finalized their divorce in February. From the court document outlining the settlement, the "Because Of You" singer has to pay $20,000 for Crystal's moving expenses and $150,000 so that she can buy a new car, alongside a vast settlement of $1.6 million.

The 37-year-old single mom will also get $12,000 monthly in child support for their three kids, Shaffer Jr., Roman, and Isabella. Ne-Yo will also pay for any school fees, and they will have joint custody of their children. Additionally, the mom will get $5,000 a month in alimony for the next three years. 

While the two finally annulled their marriage, the union experienced rough moments, and what seemed to be the deal breaker happened in August 2022. At that time, the mom of three took to her social media to slam her now ex-husband and accused him of cheating. 

She dishearteningly expressed in the outburst, which has since been deleted, "Eight years. Eight years of lies and deception. Eight years of unknowingly sharing my life and my husband with numerous women who sell their bodies to him unprotected…every last one of them!"

She continued, "To say I'm heartbroken and disgusted is an understatement. To ask me to stay and accept it is wild. The mentality of a narcissist. I will no longer lie to the public or pretend that this is something it isn't."

She also disclosed that her husband had a child on the way, and the child was not coming from her. She further described Ne-Yo's pregnant woman as his "paramour."
