Actress Phoebe Waller-Bridge is talking about the future of “Indiana Jones” after starring in “Indiana Jones and the Dial of Destiny,” which made its debut at the 2023 Cannes Film Festival earlier this year.
Although star Harrison Ford indicated that he is done with the franchise and hanging up his whip after starring in the blockbuster franchise for decades, it looks like Phoebe Waller-Bridge may be interested in reprising her role in the future.

On Thursday, Phoebe Waller-Bridge spoke to Deadline at the Disney premiere of “Indiana Jones and the Dial of Destiny.” The three-time “Fleabag” Emmy winner plays Helena Shaw, Indiana Jones’ goddaughter, in the fifth film of the “Indiana Jones” franchise.
When asked what it was like for her to join the universe, she said, “I was already a fan. I was a huge fan and it was not ever something I imagined I’d be a part of. So every single day felt like a dream.” She went on to call it a “beautiful closing chapter” for Ford, adding that she is “so proud to be part of it.”
She was also asked about the possibility of taking the reins as the new “Indiana Jones” due to online speculation. “First I ever heard of it,” Waller-Bridge replied in a bit of a tongue-and-cheek response.

When asked for an update on her Amazon shows, Phoebe Waller-Bridge replied, “It’s all very much the Writers’ Strike at the moment, so, we’re all taking a break. But if that all gets sorted, then I’ll be working on Tomb Raider.”
In January, Amazon Studios asked her to write a TV series as part of a potential “Tomb Raider” franchise that would involve a film, a series, and even games. She would also potentially star in the movie, although it’s unclear who would play the titular role.

In May, Harrison Ford received the honorary Cannes Palme D’Or ahead of the world premiere of “Indiana Jones and the Dial of Destiny.”
This will mark “Star Wars” alum’s fifth and last time as the famed archaeologist, following 1981’s “Raiders of the Lost Ark,” 1984’s “Temple of Doom,” 1989’s “Last Crusade,” and 2008’s “Kingdom of the Crystal Skull.”
The film festival played a career highlights reel set to a John Williams “Star Wars” theme that showed him from scenes in “Star Wars” as well as “Blade Runner,” “Working Girl,” “Air Force One,” “K9: The Widowmaker,” “The Fugitive,” and “American Graffiti.”

In response to his latest accolade, the 80-year-old actor said, “I am pleased and honored… but I got a movie you gotta see.” He also joked about the career highlights reel, adding, “They say before you die, you see your life flash before your eyes, and I just saw my life flash before my eyes.”
