Sarah Ferguson is sharing what makes the latest addition to her family extra special.
The media personality earned the title Duchess of York thanks to her marriage to the late Queen Elizabeth's second son, Prince Andrew. The former couple recently became three-time grandparents thanks to their second daughter Princess Eugenie.
The royal member welcomed her second son with her husband, Jack Brooksbank, on May 30, 2023. Weeks after the adorable angel's arrival, the beloved author is opening up about her newest grandson and his excellent name.
Sarah Ferguson Reveals Why Her Grandson's Name Left Her Feeling Emotional
In the second episode of her recently launched podcast venture, "Tea Talks with the Duchess & Sarah" podcast, the mother of two got candid about her grandson Ernest George Ronnie. Talking to her co-host Sarah Thomson, the 63-year-old raved about the adorable newborn.
After her pal offered her congratulations and well-wishes, the media personality responded with a gushy tribute. "He is a very, very seriously beautiful little boy. Now, of course, everyone says that, but, of course, he is," the Londoner said.
"Doting Granny, doting GG. And beautiful grandparents. GG, I'm GG," the Children in Crisis founder continued, sharing her new moniker as a grandmother. Although she was not picking favorites, the latest addition to her family held a special place in the Global Humanitarian Award recipient's heart.
According to the royal member, she was touched by the intention behind the newborn's name. "He's called Ernest George Ronnie. He's Ernest because George III's middle name was Ernest and because it's fabulous. It'll be good in Spain when we come to a villa. Ernesto," the 63-year-old declared.
Explaining the origin of her second daughter's latest baby, the "Her Heart for a Compass" author continued: "And then George after Jack's father and Ronald — Ronnie — after my father, which was touched [sic]."
The Teenage Cancer Trust patron continued, "When Jack and Eugenie told me, it was so moving that they put my dad in there. It was very kind, I thought, and made me cry, of course." Additionally, the Duchess of York revealed her daughter had given her permission to gush about Ernest publicly.
"She said I was allowed to say. Oh, I have to be very careful. I get so proud; I can't just whiz out photographs willy-nilly. Granny rules, my goodness!" the "A Most Intriguing Lady" author explained.
Princess Eugenie and her beau's decision to honor the late members of their family came years after their passing. Her grandfather, Ronald Ferguson, took his final breath in 2003. Meanwhile, her husband's father, George Brooksbank, died shortly before watching his first grandson August's royal christening in November 2021.
Ernest also marked the first of Queen Elizabeth's great-grandchildren born after the monarch died in 2022. With his birth, Princess Eugenie's second son joined the line for the succession to the British throne at number thirteen, while his older brother August was at number twelve.
Princess Eugenie Announced The Birth Of Her Second Son With The First Pictures Of The Newborn
Days before giving her mother the green light to talk about her son, Princess Eugenie she blessed her followers with the first pictures of the newborn baby on Instagram. The royal member took to social media to announce the child's arrival alongside his unique name.
The Londoner shared two pictures of Ernest, the first capturing the adorable boy sleeping comfortably in a crib. The newest member of the famous clan was all snuggled up in a blue knitted hat while his body was covered with a white shawl.
"Jack and I wanted to share the news that we had our little boy, Ernest George Ronnie Brooksbank, on 30th May 2023 at 8.49 weighing 7.1lbs," the mother of two announced in her caption.
"He is named after his great great great Grandfather George, his Grandpa George, and my Grandpa Ronald," the 33-year-old continued, adding that her firstborn son was happily embracing his duties as a big brother.
"Augie is loving being a big brother already," the RNOH Charity patron revealed, concluding her caption with a string of heart emojis. As she stated in her message, her oldest son appeared to be a doting brother, gently patting Ernest's head in the second picture.
