How Chelsea Handler's Relationship With Ex Ted Harbert Ended Due To A Threesome

Chelsea Handler's sex life with her ex Ted Harbert was all shades of wild and steamy! In 2006, the stand-up comedian and Harbert got romantically involved for four years.

However, the duo ended that affair for reasons Handler didn't fully divulge then. After a long time since they separated, the Tv host recently disclosed that their split might have been due to a steamy ménage à trois!

The comedian appeared on Andy Cohen's "SiruisXM" radio show, where she spilled the details of the threesome that led to her breakup with her ex, Harbert. Handler was prompted to disclose her affair when Cohen asked if she had ever dated a woman. 

"I've slept with a woman," the "Chelsea Lately" star replied Cohen. "but I haven't dated a woman." The revelation made the 55-year-old host urge Handler to disclose more. Handler confessed she had a threesome with a woman and her ex-boyfriend, which she described as "fun" and something she would do again.

She also clarified that she didn't do it to please her man then. Instead, she did it because she was attracted to the woman. 

"This woman very turned me on," Handler said. "I ended up hooking up with her several times without the guy I was dating. That's when I knew it was time to break up with the guy."

Cohen, seemingly curious, asked the 47-year-old host about her boyfriend's reaction to her affair with the other woman. In response, Handler said, "I don't think I ever revealed that, but hopefully, he's listening now; his name is Ted Harbert. "

Later in the conversation, the "Chelsea Does" host revealed the identity of the other woman she was with. According to her, it was their masseuse, and during that time, she realized she was more into the masseuse than Harbert. 

When Cohen asked Handler if she would "ever gift her man a three-way, her answer was affirmative. She excitedly replied, "Absolutely, I think it's fun." Although Handler likes threesomes, she previously warned fans that she is not interested in a throuple. For those unaware, "throuple" is a romantic relationship between three people.

In the announcement video, she declared, "This is a PSA to couples looking for a third party to be in their throuple. I'm not the one. I joke around about being in trouble but am in platonic trouble."

She continued, "I don't want to duck a couple. Okay? I'm not interested in you approaching me. Two couples have approached me. Now that I am single and on the market, people are expecting things from me that I am not ready to give or even hear about."

When Handler broke up with the former E! Entertainment president, she got romantically linked with other people, and most recently, she dated actor Jo Koy. Although Handler and Koy parted ways in 2022, the actor recently shared details about their breakup.

Koy stated that their "split was beautiful" and admitted that he's still single. Handler, on her part, got candid about the split five months after announcing it. During an episode of Brooke Shields' "Now What? "podcast, the Tv producer talked about how her "last relationship" seemed almost perfect. 

"I believed that this was my guy," Handler explained. "I thought, 'Oh, my God, I won.' Like I got everything. I have my career; I have respect; I have my family; I have so many friends; I have all of these things. And then I thought this would be the person I spend my life with."

The writer disclosed the plans they made in the relationship, noting that she was open to the idea of marriage as Koy thought it essential. However, things changed as the Tv presenter realized they couldn't end up together because there were some behaviors they couldn't agree on. 

Handler elaborated on how the situation was: "It felt to me like I would have to abandon myself, which maybe I would have been okay to do if I were 20 or 25, but I wasn't willing to do that. No matter how much I loved this person — and I loved him so much — I would not abandon myself."

"I am not going to change how I behave to make you feel more comfortable. I'm not doing that, and I had to walk away from something I believed would be a forever relationship," Handler added. "So that was difficult."
