Singer Britney Spears has deleted an Instagram post in which she claimed that she "quit the business."

On Tuesday night, the 41-year-old pop star shared a video that featured her dancing, spinning, and around a gym in Maui last year. In the caption, she told her followers that she had "quit the business," but it seems that she might have had a change of heart, as the post disappeared on Wednesday.

In May, a source told Page Six that, after her stifling conservatorship that lasted from February 2008 to November 2021, the “Oops!...I Did It Again” singer has no plans to tour again, although music is still her “pride and joy.”

The source said that Britney has “trauma from touring,” adding, “For so many years, she was handed grueling itineraries and made to perform – even before her conservatorship.” However, they noted that Britney hit a breaking point in 2018 “when her Las Vegas residency was finally over but then her team decided to turn it into an international tour” with more than thirty concerts across North America and Europe.

“She desperately needed a break after four years in Vegas and didn’t get one. And then they had the nerve to book a second Vegas residency right after,” the insider alleged, although the second Vegas residency never happened. Instead, Britney’s father, Jamie Spears, sent her to a mental health facility before its scheduled 2019 premiere.

The source made sure to clarify that Britney “still loves dancing and making music,” adding, “She has talked about recording again and has gotten plenty of offers, some of which she’s turned down, but it’s all about timing and picking the right projects. She’s savvy like that.”

“The beauty of Britney being free again is that she gets to call the shots for the first time in a very long time, and she’ll do it at her own pace,” they added.

Although the “Toxic” singer can always change her mind, Britney has made it clear over the years that she is done with touring. In December 2021, she took to Instagram in a since-deleted post to tell her followers “I don’t think I ever want to do it again” and said touring was “too much” for her.

“I know I’m not playing in huge arenas with my loud band anymore but I will be honest and say life on the road is hard!!!” Britney wrote at the time. “My first three years in the biz and on the road were great but I’ll be completely honest and say that after those three tours and the pace I was going … I don’t think I ever want to do it again !!!”

“I hated it!!! I read an interview a long time ago where Will Smith even said the music industry is a whole different animal compared to movies !!!” she continued. “I agree it’s too much!!!”

In a March 2023 Instagram post, the “Slumber Party” singer said that she was in the music industry for "over half of my life" and described touring from city to city as "pretty draining."

“I was in the music industry for over half of my life !!! I was told by someone who directed movies that the music industry is a different beast … especially touring !!!” Britney wrote. “It’s fun at first but if you’ve done it for a while, being in a different city constantly gets pretty draining !!! I have done like 10 tours !!!”

Although fans are hoping for another, it does not look likely... at least, not right now.
