Chet Hanks is making the jaws of his fans drop with a significant before-and-after transformation of his physique.
As with most children born into the spotlight due to their parents' fame, it was not long before the 32-year-old's personal life took a downturn to drugs and alcohol at 16.
However, years back, just after he sought help for his drug problem and converted from Atheism to Christianity, Chester — the son of Hollywood star Tom Hanks and veteran actress Rita Wilson — ensured that he primarily maintained a healthy mental and physical fitness.
Now, he is showing impressive results while advising them on how to live better lives and take their health seriously.
Chet Hanks Says He Is Past His Drug Addiction Phase With A Photo To Show The Progress
The "Empire" alum took to his Instagram account to share an exciting selfie of himself, from his 20s, in contrast to a present-day photo with his 531K followers. The "Your Honor" actor was visibly different in the images, from his physical appearance to the tattoos.
Chet, presently, has more muscle build-up with a full chest and arm-length tattoo compared to his 20s. The "Do It" Better rapper inspired his admirers to lead a healthy lifestyle in the accompanying caption while getting candid about addiction's harmful impact on his health.
He began by noting what he weighed and his state of mind when the images were taken. "Left: 32, sober, 220lbs Right: 24, on drugs, 160lbs."
Then the "Bratz" actor followed up with an explanation of his kind of "body type." He wrote, "I'm posting this to show I am not a naturally big dude. My body type is an ectomorph, meaning I have a naturally high metabolism, so it is hard to put on muscle. Until my late 20s, I didn't look much different from the picture on the right."
Chet then discussed his steps to achieve his current physique because he had to match his vision for what he wanted to become. He wrote that "substituting drinking and doing drugs with training and proper diet" gave him the confidence to change his "entire mindset."
Finally, he encouraged his fans also to change their lives around, writing, "Put on the muscle, lose the weight, do whatever your gut is telling you you need to do to match the vision you have for yourself, and it will be like you're living an entirely different existence. But know that when it comes to getting results[,] diet is 90% of it."
The post's comment section was filled with mixed reactions from fans. Some praised the rapper's sobriety, while others questioned if he was on steroids.
Last November, the heavily-tattooed hip-hop rapper made headlines for putting out a personal detail about his addiction. During an interview on the "Ivan Paychecks" podcast, Chet recalled that when his habits started to take hold, his parents' earliest solution was to send him to the middle of nowhere in Utah to a wilderness program for "troubled teens" in 2008.
He said, "Bald heads, like military guys looking like bouncers, you know? And I'm like, 'What the f–k? What the f–k is going on?' They're like, 'You're coming with us.'" The "White Boy Summer" rapper remembered being "under observation" at the program with the staff "psychoanalyzing you and picking you apart."
Though faced with a horrifying experience at the program, the "Greyhound" guest actor said it made him find God and peace in solitude. "When you have absolutely nothing to occupy your mind … but dead silence, a week feels like a month," Chet explained.
Chet Hanks Inspires Fans To Draw Closer To God
The 32-year-old, often called the Black Sheep of his family, has been radiating positivity to his community. Last month, the "Greyhound" star channeled his inner preacher as he nudged fans to put God first. In the clip, he relayed a message of hope, telling fans that only God can empower them.
As Chet drove around in the car, he said that a relationship or commitment to intangible things could never satisfy them as the one with God can.
Hanks said directly to his followers, "No relationship, no friendship, no family member, no job, no career, no promotion, no house, no car, no drink, no drug- nothing- will empower you or fill you with power, more than a relationship- a personal relationship with the highest."
The musician then challenged his listeners to give his logic a trial to see "how powerful they become." "Go to creating that above all else and see how powerful you become; you dig," he reiterated.
