Bam Margera's struggles continue. The former reality TV star was detained and is now on a 5150 hold.
Bam Margera Is Spiraling
The former Jackass star was put on an involuntary hold this weekend after he was found acting out of character at a Trejo's Taco location in Los Angeles. TMZ first reported the public meltdown on Sunday evening.
Margera was approached by the police, who were called to the scene by onlookers concerned with his demeanor and slurred speech. Suicide threats were being made by Margera recently, so this was a big problem.
So that, coupled with this behavior, left authorities too concerned to leave him on the streets to possibly disturb pedestrians and other people eating tacos at Danny Trejo's restaurant. The police called in a psychiatric team who deemed him unfit and needing evaluation.
72 Hours Till Bam Margera's Release
Margera's 5150 can last up to 72 hours if the doctors need to hold him for that long. The pro skater has been silent since then, and it's unclear if he is still being held or released and back out on the streets.
On Sunday, the pro skater's brother Jess Margera tweeted a plea for help locating Bam. By the evening, Jess had tweeted that his brother had been found but did not offer any details on what was taking place and his brother's state when he was located, especially after what he revealed about Bam.
"They found him safe 🙏 he texted me and my parents at 6 am this morning saying he loves us, he loves Phoenix, and he is at peace,' and that he took enough pills to stop his heart," he wrote. The tweet continues. "And some heartbreaking dark s**t. Thanks to everyone who shared info today."
Bam Margera Threated To Get a High
Just last week, Margera made a public claim that he has no problem getting high until he overdoses unless he can see the 5-year-old son he shares with his estranged wife, Nicole Boyd.
"I haven't seen Phoenix in two f**king months," he said. "I have to wake up every day knowing I probably won't get to talk to or see him." He continues. "I'm going to smoke crack with the bums down at the f–king boardwalk until I'm dead unless you deliver me f–king Phoenix. Get to work, Nikki or anyone that wants to help. I want Phoenix."
At the time, Boyd's lawyer said she "sincerely hopes that Bam can first achieve and then maintain sobriety, for his good, and for the good of their son."
Bam Margera Is Legally Separated
Boyd's lawyer revealed that being an addict has taken a toll on Margera, but he isn't surprised that this is the result. "Unfortunately, that's not how the addictions work. People's behavior does not drive others to drink."
The couple appeared on Bam's Unholy Union together, but once the show ended, the couple's relationship was plagued with accusations of abuse. Domestic abuse, drug abuse, and alcohol abuse.
Boyd filed for legal separation from Bam in February. The former skater went to rehab several times and fled every time so far. In March, she accused him of kicking her and was arrested. A few weeks later, he was arrested again for public intoxication.
