Matt James's Mom To Appear On 'Bachelor' For Seniors Spinoff

After years of speculation that a new "Bachelor" show specifically for seniors would be coming, the franchise officially announced the news in May 2023.

Now, there are rumors circulating that one of the former "Bachelor" leads mothers could appear in the first season of "The Golden Bachelor".

According to the Hollywood Reporter, the new spinoff reality show will cast those who are 60 years of age and older who are looking for love -- and it seems we may already know one of the contestants.

Matt James first appeared in "The Bachelor" franchise when he was cast as the lead of the show for season 25. Although he did not appear on a previous season of "The Bachelorette", he was well-known in Bachelor Nation as he is close friends with fan-favorite, Tyler Cameron, who appeared on Hannah Brown's season of 'The Bachelorette".

Now, it looks like his mom, Patty, may be following in her son's footsteps as she is in talks of appearing on the first season of "The Golden Bachelor" -- the all-new spinoff reality show geared towards those 60 years of age and older.

“Matt’s mom Patty is speaking with producers about competing on the new season,” a show insider told Page Six.

Although many details surrounding the new show are being kept in the dark, ABC describes "The Golden Bachelor" as, “the women arriving at the mansion have a lifetime of experience, living through love, loss and laughter, hoping for a spark that ignites a future full of endless possibilities. In the end, will our… man turn the page to start a new chapter with the woman of his dreams?”

Fans have been waiting for a senior spinoff of "The Bachelor" for years now, especially after members of Bachelor Nation fell in love with Gabby Windey's grandpa. Although he has not been confirmed for the upcoming show, fans are still hopeful he will make an appearance.

The franchise announced the senior spinoff, "The Golden Bachelor" in May of this year. "After more than 20 years of fostering young love on 'The Bachelor,' 'The Bachelorette,' and 'Bachelor in Paradise,' 'The Golden Bachelor' showcases a whole new kind of love story -- one for the golden years," ABC said in a press release announcing the upcoming reality series.

According to the press release, "one hopeless romantic" will be "given a second chance at love in the search for a partner with whom to share the sunset years of life."

The new series will air this fall on ABC. In the meantime, fans can look forward to seeing Charity Lawson's journey as she becomes the next lead of "The Bachelorette," which she describes as "an indescribable feeling."

"I am so honored, so excited," Lawson told Sam Champion on "Good Morning America" prior to filming. "I still feel like I’m dreaming, so still processing what those feelings are like, but I am definitely so excited for what’s to come.”

Her season of the reality show will air Monday, June 26.
