Ja Morant reportedly made a big decision off the court during his current suspension by unfollowing his childhood friend who's been linked to some of Morant's recent trouble. Davonte Pack, also known as DTap, shared the Instagram Live in May where Morant was seen flashing a gun.

The Memphis Grizzlies star, 23, has been quiet on social media since the May Instagram Live incident. He shared cryptic Instagram Stories a few weeks ago, that he deleted quickly after sharing. The concerning Stories had police doing a welfare check on the star NBA player.

And while he hasn't posted anything else since telling police that he's taking a break from social media, many fans noticed that he has made one big social media move - unfollowing his childhood friend on all of his social media accounts. He's even unfollowed Pack's MBNO clothing brand, (which stands for My Brothers, No Others).

Fans on No Jumper's Instagram page have mixed thoughts about the situation. Some say it could be a step in the right direction to making better choices and others think it's time to stop blaming other people for Morant's choices. And then others think it's just a PR move to make it appear that things are changing.

"That was Ja's fault. He knew his buddy was live," one person wrote.  Another added, "The word of the day today is 'accountability.'"

One other person suggested, "It’s him showing the NBA he’s distancing himself from his friends… they are probably still cool but both understand the situation."

Another fan wrote, "Finally making good decisions. Next step is stop carrying guns." And one other person said, "Gotta cancel out people if you want better đź’Żđź’Ż."

Last week just before Game 1 of the 2023 NBA Finals began, NBA Commissioner Adam Silver announced that the League has completed their investigation into Morant's second Instagram Live video but will not announce their findings or decision until after the Finals.

"In assessing what discipline is appropriate, if that’s the case, we look at both the history of prior acts, but then we look at the individual player’s history as well. And the seriousness of course, of the conduct, so those are all the things that get factored," Silver addressed the press before the start of Game 1 between the Miami Heat and Denver Nuggets.

"It’s not an exact science. It comes down to judgement at the end of the day on the part of me and my colleagues in the league office."

Silver continued to explain that the timing is not good to release any further information at this time because he doesn't want to take any attention off the Finals.

"In terms of the timing, we’ve uncovered a fair amount of additional information, since I was asked about the situation, I would say, we probably could’ve brought it to a head now, but we made the decision, and I believe the Players Association agrees with us that it would be unfair to these players and these teams in the middle of the series to announce the results of that investigation," he explained.

Morant is currently suspended from all team activities during the offseason, and many are speculating that the suspension coming his way will be much more significant than the last time around, which was eight games.
