As part of the 100 Years of Wonder celebration honoring 100 years of The Walt Disney Company, Disneyland Resort debuted a new fireworks show called "Wondrous Journeys."
The Parks have announced it will perform its last 2023 show this summer.
"Wondrous Journeys" Will End When?
According to Disney, the final performance of the fireworks show, "Wondrous Journeys," 2023, will take place on August 31, 2023.
The reason "Wondrous Journeys" is ending is to make way for the Halloween and Christmas fireworks -- "Halloween Screams" and "Believe…In Holiday Magic". These specially themed nighttime spectaculars will be performed in Magic Kingdom until "Wondrous Journeys" returns in early 2024.
What Is "Wondrous Journeys"?
Disneyland Resort debuted "Wondrous Journeys" as part of the 100 Years of Wonder celebration honoring 100 years of The Walt Disney Company. Disney describes the fireworks show as "Gaze in Wonder as Sleeping Beauty Castle and Main Street, U.S.A., become a great canvas for 100 years of Walt Disney Animation Studios storytelling. Thrill as talented artists transform empty pages brimming with possibility into beloved Disney characters and vivid animated worlds awash with magic. All this and more is brought to life by soaring music, stunning state-of-the-art projection technology—and spectacular pyrotechnics on select nights!"
When speaking at the 100th-anniversary celebration, the company said, "For over 100 years, Walt Disney Animation Studios has unlocked a special kind of wonder in our lives. These films have inspired us to dream bigger, unleash our spirit of adventure, discover the power within—and realize that it's fun to do the impossible."
Their report continued, "Wondrous Journeys is an enchanting celebration of the wishers, dreamers, and artists at Walt Disney Animation Studios who have shared their imagination and talents with the world."
More On 100 Years of Wonder
The Walt Disney Company is turning 100 this year, and to celebrate, Disney is bringing the festivities to Disneyland Resort in California.
Disney Parks recently described the upcoming celebration as, "Disney100 will celebrate our incredible storytellers and creators, along with the fans and families who've brought us into their hearts, as they spark Disney's magic and wonder. This celebration honors the journey we've been on and the memories we've created together, and it will bring new experiences with our beloved characters and heartwarming new stories."
The 100th-anniversary happenings began at Happiest Place on Earth in January and will continue for the remainder of the year.
Disneyland recently received new "platinum-infused décor throughout the resort" to commemorate 100 years, including on Disneyland's icon, Sleeping Beauty Castle. "Celebrating wonder, the castle will be adorned with elegant platinum banners and bunting, accented by a magnificent cabochon featuring the three Good Fairies who illuminate it with their shimmering pixie dust," Disney Parks Blog previously shared before adding, "Two majestic water fountains will grace either side of the moat, while a beautiful wishing star will sparkle from the tower above."
Walt Disney World in Orlando, Florida, is also celebrating the 100 years of the Walt Disney Company as outside of each theme park -- Magic Kingdom, Disney's Hollywood Studios, EPCOT, and Disney's Animal Kingdom -- there is a silver 100 sign commemorating the Walt Disney Company's success.
