Lizzo Mulls Quitting Music Over Body-Shaming Comment On Twitter: 'Starting To Make Me Hate The World'

Lizzo has battled constant fat-shaming throughout her music career and is finally fed up. The singer responded to a Twitter user's recent fat-shaming comment about her and said she hates the app.

Lizzo got very upset in her response and said she's "just trying to live and be healthy," not be smaller. She also cleared her haters that being fat isn't her "brand," just what her body looks like healthy.

Many of the "Truth Hurts" singer's fans also came to her defense, saying Lizzo is a "goddess" and "perfect."

According to Daily Mail, Lizzo recently went on a social media rant after seeing fatphobic and mean comments about her body on Twitter. The "Juice" singer responded to a fatphobic statement from a user called Layah Heilpern, which asked, "How is Lizzo still THIS fat when she's constantly moving this much on stage?! I wonder what she must be eating."

In response, Lizzo quoted the tweet and wrote, "JUST logged on and the app, and this is the type of s**t I see about me daily. It's starting to make me hate the world. Then someone in the comments said I eat "lots of fast food" I STOPPED EATING FAST FOOD YEARS AGO…."

The singer wrote that she's tired of explaining herself "all the time" and wants to use the app without being unnecessarily dragged. Lizzo further noted that she "hates" Twitter and clarified again that "this is what my body looks like when I'm eating clean and working out."

In her rant, Lizzo also wrote that people "really need to touch grass" because she's not trying to be a fat or more petite person. She wrote, "I'm just trying to live and be healthy. My body looks like this even when I'm eating super clean and working out! Yall speaks on s**t you know NOTHING ABOUT, and I'm starting to get heated."

The "Am I Ready" singer also complained that the love and appreciation she received online "definitely do not outweigh the Hate." She wrote that she's close to "giving up on everyone and quitting and enjoying my money and my man on a F***ING FARM…."

Lizzo seemed very angry as she noted that being a fat person and performer isn't her "brand"; it's just how her body looks, even when healthy. She wrote, "My 'brand' is FEEL GOOD MUSIC. My 'brand' is CHAMPIONING ALL PEOPLE. My 'brand' is BLACK GIRL LIBERATION."

As Lizzo talked about body shaming and negative remarks about her body, her fans flooded Heilpern's comment section, criticizing her for her uncouth behavior. According to Daily Mail, One fan wrote, "It is a universal truth that people who criticize others criticize themselves 10x more. Leave Lizzo alone and then see how your own life improves. You will be surprised."

Another fan said that Heilpern is "Straight up so ugly for this" and called Lizzo a "goddess and perfect." They asked if the author has the talent to "play the flute for hours, sing and dance simultaneously. Didn't think so."

Another of Lizzo's supporters wrote, "Y'all need to leave [Lizzo] ALONE and get your fatphobia in check. Not all skinny bodies are healthy, and not all healthy bodies are skinny. Let us live our lives with the bodies we're given and keep the hate to yourselves."

During a previous interview with Vogue Magazine, Lizzo explained that she'd rather people know her as a "body-normative" influencer than for body positivity. She said, "I think it's lazy just to say I'm body positive at this point...I want to be body-normative. I want to normalize my body."

The "Good as Hell" singer explained that she's trying to create a path for the "girls with back fat" and "bellies that hang." She also said, "I owe it to the people who started this, not just to stop here. We have to make people uncomfortable again so we can continue to change. Change is always uncomfortable, right?"
