To the public, they had a fairytale relationship, but behind closed doors, Tina endured relentless abuse from Ike. The first blow came during a disagreement about a musical collaboration, setting the stage for a series of brutal beatings. According to MamaMia, In 1968, Tina attempted suicide by consuming 50 sleeping pills, but by a twist of fate, she survived. Finally, in 1976, with only the clothes on her back, a mere 36 cents, and a Mobil credit card, she summoned the courage to escape the torturous marriage.

For years, the songstress faced hardship, relying on food stamps and performing in hotel lounges to settle debts, including legal battles arising from canceled tour dates. Despite the adversity, she emerged triumphant, finalized her divorce from Ike in 1978, and reclaimed her identity as the iconic Queen of "Rock and Roll."

The heart-wrenching testimonial from Tina's first child, Craig, who tragically passed away in 2018, reveals the depth of the brutality they witnessed. In his words, he shared, "Ike took a lot of his anger out on her. Most of the time, he'd come home, take her into the bedroom and close the door, and there would be the screams."

He continued: "And we were so petrified we were in bed with the covers over our heads. One time he was striking my mother, and I was young, and he'd thrown some scalding hot coffee on her. At that point in time, I hated that man for the rest of my life, and I'll never forget that, never."

After escaping from her abusive first husband and former music partner, Ike, the eight-time Grammy Award winner, met former music executive Erwin Bach in 1985. Their love story unfolded over a remarkable 27-year courtship, culminating in their joyful union in 2013.

In an interview with The New York Times in 2019, Tina gushed about Bach, saying, "He was just so different. He was so laid back. So comfortable. So unpretentious," Tina said about meeting Bach. "I really needed love. I just needed to love a person."

In a heartfelt message shared on Twitter, Jagger described Tina as "enormously talented," adding that she was "inspiring, warm, funny, and generous." He reminisced about her invaluable support during his youth, adding, "She helped me so much when I was young, and I will never forget her."

Even NASA took to social media to pay homage to the indomitable Tina Turner. They hailed her as "simply the best," emphasizing her status as a music legend who "sparkled across the stage and into millions of hearts as the Queen of Rock' n' Roll." They added, "Her legacy will forever live among the stars."

Within the halls of the White House, spokesperson Karine Jean-Pierre described Tina's departure as "a massive loss to the communities that loved her and certainly the music industry. Her music will continue to live on." Tina Turner is survived by her husband, Bach, and the two sons she lovingly adopted from Ike Turner's family.
