Lala Kent Says Relationship With Randall Emmett Deterred Her From Acting

In a recent heart-to-heart discussion with the Los Angeles Times, the 32-year-old got candid about her former love life, highlighting the events that broke her heart and ruined her self-confidence as an actress.

Although she sang tunes of happily-ever-after in public, Kent claimed she noticed inconsistencies in her ex-fiancé's behavior behind closed doors. It began with the entertainer's frequent business trips, constant cell phone use, and fights that broke out from the slightest inconvenience.

Despite these signs, the T.V. personality persevered, noting, "When you're in the public eye, you want it to work out." After cohabiting with Emmett in his luxurious Holmby Hills estate on Mulholland Drive, the mother-of-one became suspicious about her lover's financial status.

Citing a particular incident when a sewer line needed to be replaced, Kent revealed her former lover asked her to pay the $18,000 bill. "I just thought he was pretending to have more money than he did," the media personality observed. However, the film producer denied this narrative.

According to the 52-year-old, the sewer expenses cost $5,800, and the "Out of Death" actress surprised him by willingly paying for the bill. Emmett claimed it was a thank-you gift for all the financial aid he had given the Utah native.

The contradictions in the former couple's stories did not end there as the "Give them Lala" podcaster recounted the shocking details of her daughter Ocean's birth, a turning point in their relationship. In March 2021, the reality T.V. star was induced into labor, receiving an IV drip that made her pass out at the hospital.

When she regained consciousness, Kent claimed Emmett told her she looked like she was "part of an exorcism." The filmmaker also flew the entertainer's mother, Lisa Burningham, to L.A. to take his place as he was uncomfortable watching Ocean's arrival.

However, the Florida native refuted these allegations, stating he was "present for every second" of his daughter's birth. The final straw for Kent occurred in October 2021, when the "2 Guns" producer was caught cheating.

Kent recalled that Emmett rushed home after pictures of his deeds began circulating. When the 32-year-old confronted him by grabbing his phone, the two got into a physical altercation. However, the businessman denied this account.

Reflecting on her tumultuous relationship, "The Row" actress lamented that it had affected her self-esteem. The entertainer, who starred in six of ex's movies alongside icons like Bruce Willis and Al Pacino, stopped seeking jobs because she believed Hollywood would never take her seriously.

"Now, it's like, 'They were right. I was sleeping with the right dude,'" the influencer confessed. "It will take me a minute to return and say, 'Was I talented?' At the moment, working with those legends, it was incredible. But now it just feels dirty."

Last October, Kent opened up about surviving her allegedly terrible relationship with Emmett. Taking to her Instagram Story, the Utah beauty celebrated a year of independence away from the filmmaker in an emotional post.

The 32-year-old shared a cute picture of herself and her daughter at the beach alongside a lengthy message depicting her struggles. "Happy Independence Day to me. A year ago Today, I had my ducks in a row, and it was time to execute my game plan of escaping a toxic and unsafe place," the entertainer began.

The "Trauma Center" actress explained that she had doubted the possibility of a promising future, claiming to have lost "30 pounds from stress and trauma." However, the T.V. personality persevered for her daughter's sake.

"When it all became too much, I would hand it over to God and the universe. I knew they would cradle me. They did & have ever since," the Utah native continued, also giving thanks to her loved ones for their support during her emotional crisis.

Reflecting on how far she had come, Kent concluded her powerful post: "Today, I feel happy. It is one day at a time until I resolve the well-being of Ocean."
