Megan Fox Opens Up About Her Insecurities
Megan Fox recently got candid about her ongoing struggle with body dysmorphia and the complexities of accepting her physical appearance.
In a heartfelt video for the Sports Illustrated Swimsuit 2023 issue, the "Transformers" actress revealed, "I have body dysmorphia—I don't ever see myself the way other people see me," Fox said in a video clip for Sports Illustrated Swimsuit 2023 issue. She added, per E!News, "There's never a point in my life where I loved my body, never, ever."
As a devoted mother of three and one of the esteemed cover stars alongside Martha Stewart and Kim Petras, Fox explained that she has always been conscious of her body, even as a child.
"When I was little, that was an obsession I had of but I should look this way," she recalled. "And why I had an awareness of my body that young I'm not sure. The journey of loving myself is going to be never-ending."
'I Don't Know Why People Are So Fascinated By My Thumbs'
In her interview with Sports Illustrated Swimsuit, Fox addressed the ongoing fascination surrounding her thumbs.
During the chat with the publication, the 36-year-old shared that her thumbs, which are slightly smaller and fall under a variation of brachydactyly, hold a significant meaning in palm reading. However, the "Jennifer's Body" actress said she was surprised at people's fascination with this seemingly minor aspect of her appearance.
"I don't know why people are so fascinated by my thumbs. Like, I never thought that was a weird thing or an embarrassing thing. They're just kind of short. Is it really that crazy?" she said, per Parade.
Fox went on to reveal that she believes she has other, more peculiar imperfections but still can't understand the obsession with her thumbs. "I think I have tons of other flaws that are way more interesting than my thumbs," she said, adding, "I don't know why people focus on that. I don't know."
Megan Fox Says Her Thumbs Are Called 'Murderer's Thumbs' In Palmistry
Fox remains unfazed by the fascination surrounding her thumbs. The actress has wholeheartedly embraced it, telling fans she's not "embarrassed" and even revealed an intriguing connection in certain spiritual practices.
"It's also known in palmistry as a 'murderer's thumb,'" she playfully disclosed. "Because they say the shorter this area from the knuckle to the tip of the finger is–especially the thumb–correlates to how short your temper is."
"It takes a lot to get me to lose my temper," she continued. "I have crazy patience, but when you do push me over the edge, you're on demon time, and you better run for your life," Fox pointed out. "It's scary as F**k."
Megan Fox On Why Appearances Can Be Deceiving
In an interview with British GQ magazine alongside her fiancé Machine Gun Kelly, Fox emphasized that appearances can be deceiving, stating, "We may look at somebody and think, 'That person's so beautiful. Their life must be so easy,' they most likely don't feel that way about themselves." She added, "I have a lot of deep insecurities."
According to Fox's partner, MGK, acknowledging her deep-seated insecurities helped him confront his personal struggles. "She's helped me realize that you can't bury your trauma," the Grammy-nominated rapper shared. "No one knows anything about me. They don't know how deep that rabbit hole goes with my childhood and with everything that my body has stored in itself."
