Shanna Moakler has marked her first Mother's Day without her mom, Gail.

The former Miss USA had a somber celebration as she shared many social media updates paying tribute to her mother, who died at 77. She had announced the matriarch's passing at the start of the year, acknowledging their sweet relationship and praising Gail for being "loving, kind, and supportive" while being her best friend.

Over the years, Shanna's 396k followers have become accustomed to seeing her dedicate the sweetest tribute to her mom on Mother's Day. And this year was no different, even though she broke the news of the older Moakler's passing in January.

The mother-of-three began with a throwback image of her and a younger Gail grinning at the camera, with the words "Happy Mother's Day" colorfully adorning the top of the Instagram Story update. She then posted a vintage photo that showed her mother throwing her up in the air beside what appeared to be a makeshift bridge.

The late mother-of-three rolled up her jeans, pairing it with a black top with white sleeves and collar. Little Shanna wore sleeveless dungarees and beamed in the aptly captioned "Happy Mothers Day" post.

"Beautiful memories for two very beautiful women! She is now your personal "angel" ?️," one fan promptly dropped in the comment section. A second person typed, "Sending hugs on what I know is a hard first mothers without your number one fan," and a third stated, "Sending so much love and hugs to you on this day!!! You and you're [sic] mother are so beautiful!"

"Stay strong Shanna, you deserve to celebrate today. It's also your day," a fourth Instagram user wrote. Amid the empathetic response, Shanna took to her Instagram Story to add even more updates, this time highlighting her daughter Atiana De La Hoya's tribute to her grandmother.

In the first repost, the December 2001 Playboy Playmate of the Month is seen looking at a younger Atiana, who is pointing at the camera. The photo, which also showed the mother-daughter duo posing in front of a piano, was captioned, "Happy Mother's Day, beautiful mama."

She then reposted the "The Kardashians" star's next Story, which featured the three generations of grandmother [Gail], mother [Shanna], and granddaughter [Atiana]. The trio appeared to be at a special ceremony as Shanna paired a white and green outfit with a flower wreath, and her then-little daughter donned a white baptismal gown.

The doting mom took things further by tagging Atiana and her other kids — Alabama Luella and Landon Asher Barker — on a post that came with the words, "Getting to be your mom is the greatest privilege of my life."

A final update from the model was a montage of her three children from over the years, starting when they were toddlers. Viewers saw the kids dress up for Halloween, attend parties, visit the dentist, and enjoy family vacations, amongst other monumental things.

Shanna has continued to deal with the grief of losing her mother and has not shied away from publicly doing so occasionally. In one recent post, she shared a screenshot of a text chain between her and Gail, where the latter sent a video of a snow-covered road with the explanation:

"We are supposed to get snow flurries today or tomorrow. I'm kind of looking forward to it [.] I love snow."

"Lucky," the bereaved daughter responded, prompting her mom to reveal that she was in "such a good place," adding a declaration of love for her family and daughter. The 48-year-old reciprocated the sentiment, and her mother chimed, per The Blast:

"I need my girl [.] you mean so much to me you have no idea. I am so proud of you. I am so proud to be your mama."

Later in April, the Miss Nevada USA state pageant exec producer honored the Rhode Island resident by bringing home one of her favorite art pieces. She showed off the artwork via social media, writing across it:

"This was my mom's favorite art piece; I just got it to LA. It's very emotional for me ?." The simple yet incredibly detailed octopus drawing consisted of nude and greenish themes.
