Britney Spears is taking time off from her "Britney: Domination" Las Vegas residency to run home and care for her father after he was hospitalized with a ruptured colon.

Spears just made the announcement, saying, "This is so tough for me to say ... I've been looking forward to this show and seeing all of you this year."

The singer revealed, "A couple of months ago, my father was hospitalized and almost died," adding, "We're all so grateful that he came out of it alive, but he still has a long road ahead of him."

A rep for Britney tells The Blast that Jamie Spears was hospitalized after his colon "spontaneously ruptured," and he was immediately admitted to surgery.

Jamie, who is Britney's conservator and is involved in every facet of her life, spent the next 28 days in the hospital while in Las Vegas.

He has since been released to recover at home and is expected to make a full recovery.

Britney's residency was scheduled to begin on February 13, and refunds are being made available to those who already purchased tickets. It is unclear when or if the shows will be rescheduled.

Spears says she hopes her fans can "understand," and she plans on putting all her focus and energy "on my family at this time."
