Disney Genie is a “complimentary and convenient” new digital service designed to help relieve stress while planning your Disney Parks day. Built right into the My Disney Experience and Disneyland apps, the new Disney Genie service helps to maximize your park time as it maps out an entire day from riding attractions to planning dining reservations.
In addition to the complimentary service, Disney also offers a paid Disney Genie+ service. The Disney Genie+ costs between $15 – $35 depending on when Guests visit Walt Disney World or Disneyland as well as the Individual Lightning Lane service, which allows Guests to schedule a time to arrive at highly demanded attractions each day using the Lightning Lane entrance. The cost for Lightning Lane also varies depending on the day Guests visit.
Ever since the new service debuted, fans have voiced their frustrations and Disney is listening, as they just announced new changes coming to the app.
Disney To ‘Simplify’ Genie+ Service and Lightning Lane
In order to utilize Disney Genie+ and Lightning Lane, Guests had to make their selections on the day of their Park visit, which frustrated many. Now, Disney is changing that as they announced new changes coming to the app which will “simplify” the service.
“We have heard from guests that they would like ways to plan with Disney Genie+ service and individual Lightning Lane selections before the day of their park visit, and we want you to know we are working on ways guests may do this for visits in 2024,” Disney promised in their announcement. “Our goal is to give you the opportunity to spend less time planning in the park and more time enjoying your visit with friends and family. While we are not yet able to share specific details, we look forward to sharing more information at a later date.”
What Is Disney Genie?
Disneyland and Walt Disney World offer a complimentary Disney Genie service, which the website describes as “Our complimentary Disney Genie service creates your best Disney day inspired by your top interests. It also grants you new planning features, including a personalized itinerary creator. You’ll love how it saves you time by seamlessly mapping out your special day, with updates that continue from morning to night—just like a favorite navigation app.”
In addition to the complimentary Disney Genie service, Disney offers a Disney Genie+ service, which is a paid offering. Per Disney, “In addition to getting all of the great features that come with the complimentary Disney Genie service, purchasing Disney Genie+ service offers even more convenience and flexibility, starting at $25.00 USD per ticket per day. Prices and availability vary by date.”
Their website also states, “Disney Genie+ service is available for purchase before your visit—as an add-on with new ticket or vacation package purchases—or may be available as a single-day purchase for existing ticket holders through the Disneyland app on the day of your park visit after park entry. Please check the Disneyland app after park entry for pricing and availability, as availability is limited.”
