Serena And Venus Williams' Sisterly Bond Shines Through Amid Playful Feud
Taking to her Instagram page, the 41-year-old posted photos of herself and her older sister on a trip to Miami for the Formula 1 Grand Prix. The duo looked like they had set aside their beef with each other to enjoy the sights around them.
In the first slide, the 42-year-old's looks belied her age as she looked stunning in a high-waisted mini patchwork skirt, a black and white bralette, and white sneakers. Serena sported a black faux leather jacket over a short jumpsuit paired with hot pink sneakers, a waist pouch, and sunglasses.
The following slide was a fun selfie with her daughter Alexis Olympia, and the others showed her with other celebs like model Karlie Kloss and social media star Khaby Lame. She could not help but get cheeky with her caption that read, "A day in Miami with my naughty sis."
Fans complimented their looks, like this user who noted, "Aging backward much, Venus?" while another gushed, Look at Venus looking 25! 😍." A netizen asked, "Name a more powerful, beautiful, tenacious sister duo? I'll wait! 😍😍😍." This admirer described them as "Absolutely stunning and an inspiration," while a fifth wrote, "Beautiful Serena, you always look so stylish."
Last month, the expectant mother shared a glimpse of one of their training sessions, during which she discovered where some of her belongings had disappeared to. In a TikTok video, the 23-time Grand Slam champion admitted to the camera, "I'm here to confess that my sister is a thief. Here's evidence."
She panned the camera to point at a set of workout balls in the background and then said, "Clearly, this is where all my workout balls went, but I'm trying not to complain, I'm just trying to be positive here." The mother-of-one then showed a Pilates reformer, which she claimed was originally hers, stating, "I keep asking her for some money, but she's outright refused."
With a chuckle in her voice, she exclaimed, "She needs to be brought to justice. That's an S on that towel," as she zoomed in on an embroidered hand towel in the corner of the room.
The "Game On!" executive producer carried on with her workout, prompting Serena to approach her directly, saying, "These things are mine. What else in here is mine?" At the end of the video, she turned to face her dog and joked, "Is that, in fact, my dog?" before asserting, "That is my dog. Mmhm."
Afterward, in a "Get Ready With Me" video, Serena provided an update on the situation. She asked her followers, "Who else thinks it's totally unfair for Venus to kick me out of her house and say I can't use her gym all because I told the truth about how she took so many things of mine?"
Nonetheless, Serena boldly declared that she would return to Venus' home, stating, "Anyways, speaking of the truth, I'm going back, obviously. I'm going back." Fans quickly flooded the comments to share their two cents on the situation. One person responded with a question that read, "if your sister isn't stealing your stuff, do you even have a sister?"
Another person that found it hilarious wrote, "Lmao this is such a little sister thing to say [three laughing emojis]," while someone else penned, "Retired Serena might be my favorite Serena lol."
Venus Williams Shuts Down Reporter's Attempt To Pit Her Against Sister Serena
The athletic duo has long been the subject of comparisons despite having incredible careers and inspiring legacies. The Blast shared that during an interview at Wimbledon, a reporter attempted to pit Venus against her younger sister.
After wrapping up their first round of mixed doubles, the 1997 WTA Newcomer of the Year and Jamie Murray faced a barrage of questions during the post-match press conference.
One reporter inquired whether their goal was to win or make it past the third round, where their siblings Serena and Andy Murray had been eliminated three years earlier. The seven-time Grand Slam winner sarcastically responded, "What kind of question is that?" adding, "We are in it for a stroll. Come on."
When the journalist persisted and asked whether she was only there for the experience, she retorted, "Are you going to write a good article or just a halfway decent one?" He replied, "I will do what I usually do," to which Venus emphatically stated, "Us too."
