On May 4, the Prince and Princess of Wales stepped out for their first official appearance in the highly-anticipated coronation week. Per PEOPLE, the royal duo visited the Dog & Duck Pub in Soho to learn about the tavern's preparations for the crowning ceremony.

After spending quality time indoors with the establishment's staff, the lovebirds stopped to chat with the crowd outside the restaurant. A gathering member claimed the Dame Grand Cross of the Royal Victorian Order recipient addressed her children's feelings about the festivities.

Recalling their conversation, Mandy Leifheit of Seattle, Washington, told the news outlet: "I asked if the kids were excited about the coronation, and she said, 'They're very excited. They had their rehearsal yesterday, so they knew what they'd expect.' "

Although the current Duchess of Cornwall raved about her kids' enthusiasm for their grandfather's coronation, the informant revealed that the Princess could not relate. In Leifheit's words: "She said she's more nervous than the kids are since it's such a big event for the kids to be part of."

The source added that the 41-year-old confirmed her youngest child, Prince Louis' attendance while declaring the boy would never forget his experience at the momentous occasion. The coronation is undoubtedly a big deal for the young Prince and his siblings, given their significant roles in the ceremony.

The Wales brood — Prince George, Princess Charlotte, and Prince Louis — will star in the King's upcoming coronation procession. Unlike the older children, this will mark Louis's first appearance, as his siblings previously participated in Queen Elizabeth's funeral procession in 2022.

The trio and their parents would join the royal procession out of the Abbey for Charles' big day. The Prince and Princess of Wales' carriage shall be behind King Charles and Queen Camilla's Gold State Coach.

Other crucial royal family members shall trail behind William and Middleton's carriage. The group included the Princess Royal, her husband, Vice Admiral Sir Tim Laurence, the Duke and Duchess of Edinburgh, the Duke and Duchess of Gloucester, the Duke of Kent, and Princess Alexandra.

Although Wales' children were allocated posts in the procession, the same could not be said for Prince Harry and Meghan Markle's kids. Prince Archie and Princess Lilibet were not given the same treatment as their cousins.

The duo was allegedly not invited to the King's coronation at the time of this announcement. The lack of a pass to the ceremony came on the heels of their parents' delay in announcing whether or not they would be attending the ceremony.

King Charles Was 'Disappointed' By Meghan Markle's Decision To Skip His Coronation

Last month, The Blast reported that after leaving fans hanging for weeks about their appearance at the King's upcoming ceremony, the Duke and Duchess of Sussex chose to send only one representative.

Prince Harry shall attend the coronation without his wife; decision sources claimed made the monarch displeased with the former actress. The environmentalist allegedly hoped to see his daughter-in-law and grandchildren at the ceremony.

However, to his disappointment, only his second son would make the trip. Regarding Meghan's choice to stay in the couple's California home on May 6, it was believed she skipped the event for her son's birthday.

Prince Archie will turn four on his grandfather's big day and be celebrated by his mother alongside his younger sister. However, royal experts claimed Markle's decision was a "snub" to the King.

Nonetheless, the Head of the Commonwealth was reportedly "happy" about the Duke of Sussex's attendance. According to sources, Harry's participation in the event was an "ideal compromise" that would likely appease the rest of the royal family.
