Christina Applegate has disclosed why she defended SKIMS after Candace Owens mocked the shapewear brand for the inclusivity campaign.

The "Dead to Me" actress issued a series of remarks denouncing the political commentator's dismissive comments after Owens claimed that the disability-friendly Skims ad was unnecessary and "ridiculous." The campaign featured a woman with a disability rocking the Kim Kardashian-owned brand while in a wheelchair.

Christina Applegate Needed To Set Candace Owens Straight For THIS Reason

Applegate has continued advocating for people with disabilities to have more accessibility in the fashion industry. Her latest tirade came when she sat with Vanity Fair to discuss how living with multiple sclerosis (MS) has altered her life and career.

As the interview progressed, the Young Artist Awards winner was asked how she felt having to "school someone on the challenges of the MS community." In response, the mother-of-one stated:

"I had to say it because it's crap. I know how hard I tried to get my bra on today, and I was stuck. And thank God Skims, the beautiful company that has adaptive clothing for people, sent me the one that you can just put on like a vest, and it has things in the front for you to clip."

After explaining the technology behind fixing the underwear and the occasional inability to get off the "toilet for an hour because we can't get our pants on," the "Hall Pass" actress added:

"It was sad that that person - whose name I don't speak - took so much space in my f**king energy field."

Applegate further shared that it was exhausting fending off people's supposedly good advice when she only wanted to "lie in my bed and be alone and watch TV." "'Why don't you get up and exercise? Why don't you get on the treadmill for five minutes?' It's like, why don't you fuck off? I'd rather lie here and cry or do whatever I need to do right now to process," the "Don't Tell Mom the Babysitter's Dead" star finished.

As for her retort against Owens, The Blast reported that the "Up All Night" screen goddess took to Twitter on Thursday, March 23, to drop multiple messages educating the conservative author.

"Yes, late tweet. But I woke to see the most horrifying thing. This Candace person is making comments about companies who see we need help. It's fucking gross. I thank Skims, Tommy and Guide Beauty, and @neowalksticks for seeing us. To you #youshouldknowbetter," Applegate's tirade began.

In a follow-up tweet, the Golden Globe Awards nominee revealed the difficulty she faced when it came to getting dressed, as it often required the assistance of a team. Thus, she was "excited for accessibility clothing" for herself and her community.

A final tweet expressed her willingness to "get on the phone" with Owens to get "educated on being disabled" without anger. Although the "Blackout" author replied that she was open to conversing with the actress, she declared that she was unaware that the SKIMS ad "featured a specific technology designed for people with disabilities."

The Primetime Emmy Awards Winner Received Humongous Support From Selma Blair

Applegate and Blair gave people a severe case of "friendship goals" when the latter publicly gushed about her longtime friend's strength amid her MS struggles. The "Hellboy" actress, who has been dealing with the disease since 2018, had raved about her "The Sweetest Thing" co-star after watching her Hollywood Hall of Fame induction last November, proclaiming:

"She is an iconic California girl actress of my generation. There has not been one thing that she's done that I haven't been like, 'Nailed it,' and she's nailing just being who she is with this MS."

The "Brown's Requiem" star had even helped Applegate through the initial stages of her MS diagnosis, which she saw as no big deal. As far as the 50-year-old bleached blond is concerned, she returned the favor and goodwill her friend has shown over the years. Pointing out her kind acts, Blair recalled, per The Blast:

"There have been things that I had been unglued, and she's like, 'I'm outside. Answer the door.' She's just amazing and strong and fun."

Applegate has since disclosed that she dealt with her diagnosis by taking a break from activities that would require her to be in public.
