Ozzy Osbourne Wants To Continue Performing No Matter What
After a long hiatus from touring, legendary rock musician Ozzy Osbourne has expressed his eagerness to get back on stage and perform in front of his fans, per the New York Post. As affectionately known by his fans, the Prince of Darkness recently suffered several health complications and has been out of the touring circuit since early this year.
In an interview with Metal Hammer Magazine, Ozzy, 74, spoke about his desire to hit the road again and how much he misses the thrill of performing live.
"I mean, doing a live show is what I live for," he said. "I've had to cancel my 2023 European tour, but I'm determined to get back onstage."
"The Diary of A Madman" singer explained that he's got to do more gigs and wouldn't mind being pushed around in a wheelchair.
"I mean, you can't retire from this game. It's not a job; it's a f*cking passion. I don't know how to do anything else."
Ozzy Osbourne Announced His Retirement
In February, the legendary Black Sabbath frontman announced that he would be retiring from touring and canceled all his upcoming shows as he continued to recuperate. The rock star has been struggling with several medical issues, including Parkinson's disease and a spinal injury he sustained during an accident.
Ozzy acknowledged his fans and apologized to them, noting that he "never would have imagined" that his touring days would ever end like they did.
"I am honestly humbled by the way you've all patiently held onto your tickets for all this time, but in all good conscience, I have now come to the realization that I'm not physically capable of doing my upcoming European/UK tour dates, as I know I couldn't deal with the travel required," he said.
This news came as a blow to fans eagerly anticipating the rock icon's return to the stage. Despite his health struggles, Ozzy has remained active recently, releasing his latest solo album, "Patient Number 9," in 2022. With the release, he scored his first No. 1 on Billboard's top album sales chart and later won two Grammys, Best Rock Album and Best Metal Performance, for the project in February.
