She was breaking the rules in style! Doja Cat kisses her sobriety goodbye while stepping on Anna Wintour's toes.
The caramel-glazed beauty needs no introduction, given her outstanding versatility as a singer, rapper, and producer. The 27-year-old divides the internet with her eccentric personality when she is not topping the music charts.
Before making it inside the Metropolitan Museum of Art for this year's Met Gala, the viral queen caused a stir on the red carpets, the Los Angeles native broke the event's smoking restrictions by vaping on camera.
Doja Cat Caught Vaping During Her Met Gala Debut After Previously Going Sober
On May 1, celebrities from the entertainment and fashion industries stepped out in their best tributes to the late designer Karl Lagerfeld. The star-studded list included international stars from South Korea, like Blackpink's member Jennie Kim.
As seen in a viral video shared on Twitter, the K-Pop star was being interviewed by the social media influencer Emma Chamberlain on the red carpet when the "Say So" singer stole the spotlight with her unruly act.
Despite being dressed in her spectacular tribute to Lagerfeld's beloved cat, Choupette, the ARIA Music Award nominee did not stick to her feline role.
While Jennie answered Chamberlain's questions, the Los Angeles native happily vaped in the background, unbothered by the camera as she puffed out clouds of smoke. The Grammy winner seemed to be smoking to kill time, waiting for her turn to be interviewed by the internet personality.
For obvious reasons, smoking at public events, especially at an art museum, was prohibited — especially since Wintour, the Met Gala host, has stamped her foot against the act. However, the "Kiss Me More" songstress act broke the ball's rules and tampered with her sobriety milestone.
In August 2022, Doja proudly announced she was Vape-sober for over two months in an Instagram Live session. Flaunting her stunning figure in a black bikini and a red cover-up, the five-time AMA winner filmed herself while painting on a canvas.
"I quit vaping. It's day 70 of no vape. Day 70! Are you proud of me?" the Billboard Music Award winner gushed as she waved her paintbrush around. "Day f**king 70, no vaping. I would love to have a smoke in the name of love," the media personality confessed.
The Los Angeles beauty quit vaping months after she underwent tonsil surgery. Sharing the sad development on social media, the "Go to Town" artist explained that she had to cancel her scheduled tour with The Weeknd because of her health.

Following this announcement, the caramel-toned rapper opened up about her nicotine addiction on Twitter. In a series of messages, the VMA winner noted that she had suffered an abscess in her tonsils caused by vaping.
Although she was given antibiotics to relieve her symptoms, her condition worsened to the point of needing surgery because of her carelessness. The "Better Than Me" singer forgot about her medication at the 2022 Billboard Music Awards, where she vaped and drank alcohol.
Following fans' cries for Doja to abandon the detrimental act, the 27-year-old confessed to vaping dependence. "Throwing them away just instills panic. I'm addicted, but I'm not weak," the songstress wrote, promising to reduce her nicotine intake.
The Hip-hop Star Looked Purr-fect At This Year's Met Gala With Feline Prosthetics
Doja attended the highly anticipated annual Met Gala dressed as Lagerfeld's white Birman cat, Choupette. The Los Angeles native pulled out all the stops for the feline look, using prosthetics and incredible fashion detailing.
For her debut at the prestigious fashion event, the "Get into It" songstress's stylist Brett Alan Nelson collaborated with Oscar de La Renta's co-creative director Fernando Garcia to create the perfect evening dress.
The hand-beaded creation sparkled in the night with its silver design, giving off feline vibes with its face-fitting hood and cat ears. The lower half of the attire featured a fluffy white train, while the back cutout added a risque touch to the figure-hugging number.
Doja completed her cat appearance with facial prosthetics created by the artist Malina Stearns. The elegant feline look included a cat-shaped nose and eyes, allegedly the songstress's ideas as her stylist did not want her outfit to look like a "costume."
