Former 'Selling Sunset' Star Maya Vander Honors Stillborn Son's Memory Through Beautiful Gesture

Maya Vander has turned her intimate pain into something beautiful!

The former "Selling Sunset" star has been candid with her fans in sharing her grief from having to deliver her stillborn son at 38 weeks. Vander, 43, opened up in an Instagram post last summer, detailing how working through her pain had been incredibly helpful.

Vander and her husband had planned to name their son Mason.

The reality star detailed how women worldwide had contacted her about her stillbirth experience and revealed how a busy schedule had become a "healthy distraction."

Vander detailed her experience in the caption of an Instagram post.

"I have women (who might be going through something similar) ask me how I'm doing after my stillbirth & pregnancy loss and how I'm able to continue pushing forward in my daily life," Vander wrote. "Everyone handles loss in their way, but for me, I find the key is to stay busy- a healthy distraction always keeps me going," she continued.

"My advice is to get to work, socialize with people, get your body moving (endorphins), and talk to someone. I know the pain of loss won't heal overnight, but Today is a great day to begin or continue furthering the healing process," Vander suggested. (via The Blast)

Grieving mothers commented on Vander's post to share their stories and praise Vander for her ability to move forward.

"Losing a child is the worst thing ever," a fan wrote. "But here I am going on, living and grieving simultaneously. Our angels are watching over us. Hugs to you as well," they concluded.

"@themayavander, I don't know how you do it," another fan commented. "I lost my baby girl's twin and can't replace her; I have two beautiful children. So that's me done," they shared.

"I had a stillborn baby last year," another follower wrote. "The pain never disappears, but I know he cares for us in heaven. He will never be forgotten. Thank you for sharing your story [heart emoji]."

Earlier in April, Vander partnered with Push Pregnancy for an Instagram Live segment where she opened up about her experience. Followers were also inspired by Vander's bravery and willingness to share her story with the public.

A year and a half after Vander's initial announcement about losing her son, she revealed the adorable way his legacy is being honored!

Captioning a photo of her and her husband, Dave Miller, standing next to a train on a playground, Vander writes, "Today was a very emotional morning! Our playground donation was completed and opened up for the children. The playground will bring joy to so many children. Our stillborn Mason will be in our hearts [s] forever! In every tragedy, we can try to find a little light and learn to navigate through hard times. Thank you, Child Care Center, for letting us create a fun area for the kids!" Vander concluded.

"Powerful lady, you're [sic] come across so genuine. Stay humble [heart eyes emoji]," a fan commented on Vander's post.

"What a beautiful memorial for your son [heart emoji]. May God bless you [sic] family [praying hands emoji]," another follower wrote.

After she had announced her pregnancy on the fifth season of "Selling Sunset," Vander later announced the loss of her son in an Instagram story in December of 2021.

"I always heard of it but never thought I'll be part of the statistics," Vander announced. "Instead of delivering a baby, I get to go home with a memory box. I do not wish this on anyone. What was a regular checkup turned into a nightmare I never imagined would happen to me," she went on. (via People, per The Blast)

On December 10th, Vander repeated her announcement with a post on her Instagram feed. In addition to the beginning above, she added, "Given I shared my pregnancies in the show, I knew I'd have to post about this and avoid the 'when is your due date question. You'll always be in our hearts, baby Mason," Vander concluded.

Season six of "Selling Sunset" will premiere next month on May 19th.
