Emmett Till Accuser Carolyn Bryant Donham Passes Away, Twitter Blasts Her Anyway

The woman who was behind the cause of Emmett Till’s murder passed away after battling cancer. And the internet doesn't care.

The Mississippi native accused Till of whistling at her nearly 70 years ago causing him to be kidnapped, beaten, and dragged through the streets by a car as punishment by a gang of butt-hurt grown white men afraid that a 14-year-old boy was out in the streets after their women.

Well, it turned out that Donham lied and only admitted it was a lie six decades later! When speaking with historian Timothy B. Tyson, a Duke University professor she admitted that Till never did anything to her. no whistling, no looking...

Her allegations that Till was menacing, touched her inappropriately, and made crude comments were false or, in her words, “that part is not true.”

Vanity Fair dropped the shocking news first back in 2017. Donham was immediately shamed, and crowds of people begged her to be arrested for the rest of her life. This was not taken into consideration.

While not much is known about Donham it was confirmed by CNN via Megan LeBoeuf, the chief investigator with the Calcasieu Parish coroner’s office that Donham passed from cancer. According to the death letter, her official day of passing was April 25 in Westlake, Louisiana.

Social media is reacting to the death and let’s just say, it’s not much of a mixed bag of emotions for the masses.

“Today, Carolyn Bryant, the accuser and last surviving accomplice of Emmett Till’s murder has died. My thoughts are not with Carolyn Bryant, but instead, the family of

@EmmettTill who worked to bring him and Mamie Till-Mobley justice. Please direct your love toward them today ??” wrote activist Devan Vilfard.

“Carolyn Bryant Donham, the white woman that caused the Emmett Till lynching and his death nearly 70 years ago, has died. If you remember last year the Mississippi grand jury declined to indict her in August over Till’s death. May she rot in hell........” wrote an impassioned follower.

Twitter is on fire with hate for Donham, it seems like no one cares for her to rest in peace after the string of words she strung together that got Till murdered.

“I hope the hottest part of Hell has a spot ready for Carolyn Bryant. She lived a full life after lying on Emmett Till. No indictment. No jail. Nothing” noted an upset follower.

“Hell got another demon today. Carolyn Bryant Donham, the white woman whose lies led to the murder of Emmett Till has died. May her soul never know peace.” Damn.

Some people chose to focus on Mamie Till, Emmett’s mother who turned her grief into a war on social justice for other little boys who look like hers.

“Remember these two angels today. Emmett Till and his mother Mamie Till-Mobley.” And another followed up, “A reminder that Emmett Till would have turned 82 this summer.

This is not ancient history. And yes: We should all learn about it.”

This is unfortunate all around.
