The most anticipated night in fashion is just a few days away, and Kim Kardashian is preparing to steal the show…again!
The socialite needs no introduction as one of the world's most influential women. From her TV appearances to her red-carpet looks, the California beauty has become a dominant force in the entertainment industry.
One of the events the reality TV star frequently headlines is the Met Gala, an annual fundraising ball for the Metropolitan Museum of Art's Costume Institute in New York City.
This year's ceremony honors the legendary designer Karl Lagerfeld, who passed away in 2019. As in previous years, the 42-year-old will participate in the fashion show with another newsworthy outfit.
Kim Kardashian Gives Glimpse Of Met Gala Prep During 'Date'
In a recent Instagram update, the "Keeping Up With The Kardashians" star shared a carousel of images from her visit to the late German designer's office in Paris. The TV personality, who caused a stir with her Marilyn Monroe outfit in 2022, hinted at her plans to dominate this year's event.
Dressed in a sexy black latex coat and a matching pair of thigh-high stiletto boots, the mother-of-four rocked her raven-black hair in gentle waves as she enjoyed a rare opportunity. The KKW Beauty founder posed on a luxurious gold bed with Lagerfeld's beloved Birman cat, Choupette.
The fashion favorite feline, who has 149k Instagram followers, seemed uninterested in Kardashian's presence. However, the cat's bombastic side-eye did not stop the entertainer from showering the iconic pet with kisses…from a safe distance.
When she was not lounging on the bed, bonding with Choupette, the businesswoman took fans on a trip through the late designer's office. In one picture, the media personality seemingly gave clues about her Met Gala outfit as she admired some of Lagerfeld's sketches pasted on a wall.
The SKIMS founder was also seen inside the deceased's office, where staff showed her designs on the Chanel creative director's desk. The carousel ended with a clip of the California native filming herself on the bed with Choupette.
"Had a date with @choupetteofficiel in Paris," the 42-year-old announced in the post's caption. "We then spent some time at @karllagerfeld's office to get some inspiration for the Met."
The adorable photo dump received over 800,000 likes and thousands of fan comments. Katy Perry gushed: "WHAT AN ICON! @choupetteofficiel," while others expressed surprise at Kardashian's participation in the upcoming ball.
"Wait, I thought the Kardashians weren't invited, lol," an individual wondered, referring to the rumors about the family's Met Gala snub. "She said 'who ain't invited,'" another chimed, while a third penned: "Putting this caption to confirm that they are invited to the Met."
Speculations that the Kardashians were excluded from the annual event began circulating in March after insiders claimed that showrunner Anna Wintour allegedly imposed stricter restrictions on the guest list.
Despite the claims of her absence, sources later confirmed that the voluptuous goddess would be strutting down the famous red carpet alongside another member of the Kar-Jenner clan.
The Theme For This Year's Met Gala Left A Bitter Taste In Fans' Mouths
Last year, The Blast reported that the theme for the 2023 Met Gala was a tribute to Lagerfeld. Scheduled to hold on May 1, the evening bash shall honor the life and legacy of the late fashion icon.
Following the announcement, several fans and celebrities aired their disappointment over the celebration of a man they deemed "unacceptable." The German native might have won the fashion industry's heart with his exceptional designs. However, his personality was far from praiseworthy.
Jameela Jamil, a renowned actress, and activist, slammed the gala's organizers in a lengthy post about the late creative director's horrible behavior. The 37-year-old noted that the deceased was a "supremely talented" man who used his platform in a "distinctly hateful way, mostly toward women."
The British entertainer explained that Lagerfeld repeatedly attacked groups, including women, gay couples, fat people, and Muslim refugees, "up until the last years of his life." Before his death, the 85-year-old showed "no remorse, no atonement, no apology, and no help" to groups he attacked.
Upset, "The Good Place" star wondered why showrunners chose to celebrate Lagerfeld's legacy when there were several "amazing designers" who were not "bigoted white men?"
Concluding her message, Jamil wrote: "We didn't fight all this sh*t just to throw it all away because some white guy made some pretty clothes for people's skinny faves."
