Jermaine Jenasis publicly expressing his upset over his daughter no longer having a British accent and being an American teen.
Jermaine Jenas Is Shocked Every Time
The former professional footballer shared that his eldest daughter is being raised in the United States and he doesn’t even recognize her as a Brit any longer. The 40-year-old told MailOnline he is having a “tough” time adjusting to Sancha’a way of life.
Her mom immigrated to the US shortly after they called it quits and she has been living in the States for the last seven years. He has three other kids with his wife of fifteen years Ellie Geneva, nine, Olivia, six, and 18-month-old Jacob.
Sancha who ended up in the States because of her mom’s new partner splits her time between the U.S. and England. “It was a tough one for me and a tough one for my daughter, but I didn't want to get in the way of my ex moving on with her life.”
But when Sancha began coming to visit and asking for a “popsicle” and a “soda” two things that are known as an “ice-lolly” and “fizzy drink”, or “mineral” to refer to the latter, then it became a bit of an annoyance for the TV host.
Jermaine Jenas ‘Knocks’ The American Accent Out Of Her
Not physically of course! “She has an American accent until I knock it out of her every time she comes over. It was worse when she was younger, she used to turn up and say ‘Daddy, can I have a popsicle?’”
Jenas would ignore her until she asked the right way. “And she'll say, ‘ice cream or ice-lolly’ and I'll say ‘Okay, go and get one.’ And then she'll say, ‘Daddy can I have a soda?’ She's too old now for me to crack the same jokes now!” he admits. At least knows his limits.
Still, the proud father is delighted at what a great person his daughter is. “She's a really good student, she just came off a big track meet in America where she came 2nd in the 200 meters in her State. She is a proper athlete, gym crazy, does back flips left right and center, she plays football, so soccer, American football as well and she does track,” he brags.
It’s just that pesky accent she has every time reacclimates herself to the United Kingdom that Jenas is hoping to get rid of sooner rather than later.
Jermaine Jenas Is Fulfilled
The host of The One also gushed about his other children but admits his wife had to negotiate with him for the last little one. “There are no more children. People always told me you're done when your Mrs. is done. When we had Olivia, we kind of got our lives back but Ellie said she really wanted to give it one more go at having a boy.”
He humored his wife who he has been with since 2011. “I was like 'here we go' but we went through it and got our little boy and the minute he arrived she said, ‘We're never doing this again’ and I was like 'Sound!' We're both on the same page.”
Now that the family is complete, Jenas is counting on Sancha’s quality time with her siblings to help her accent linger. Damn, they say Brits don’t like Americans, but this is next level!
