Helen Mirren Opens Up About Her Co-Star Harrison Ford
In a recent panel discussion for The Wrap's 2023 Awards Season Screening Series, five-time Emmy Award winner Helen Mirren revealed that she was "so excited" about filming bedroom scenes with Harrison Ford for the Paramount+ series, "1923."
In the television drama series, Mirren plays the character Cara Dutton, alongside Ford as her on-screen husband, Jacob Dutton, and there is a scene where the two actors share a bed. Despite being fully dressed during the scene, the 77-year-old couldn't contain her excitement about being in bed with the iconic actor.
"I had to be in bed with him, you know. I'm dressed up to here, but I'm lying there and thinking, 'I'm in bed with Harrison Ford,'" she said, per Insider. The actress added, "I was so excited, I can't tell you. I had to pretend to be cool. Don't tell him. Promise me." Mirren went on to praise Ford's talents and disclosed that she agreed to participate in the series because she heard that he was already involved.
Helen Mirren And Harrison Ford Share Their Admiration For Each Other
During the discussion, Mirren spoke highly of Ford, commending his ability to maintain a significant presence in the film industry while remaining humble and private. "The stature he's held, as a major, humongous movie star, all that time, at the same time as somebody who doesn't love the limelight," she noted.
"He's come to a place where he can be easy with other actors. It's immensely generous and incredibly professional. Not remotely a spoiled movie star at all. I genuinely love him. If I wasn't married…" she added.
In an "The Late Show with Stephen Colbert" interview in February, Ford admired Mirren, acknowledging her enduring beauty and sex appeal, stating, "Yeah, she is still sexy."
He also applauded her work ethic on the "1923" set. Ford was impressed by her willingness to engage in physically demanding action scenes despite her stature as a respected dame of the British Empire. "There's a lot of physical activity, and she just jumps right in and does stuff you don't imagine Helen Mirren would do — Dame Helen Mirren," he marveled.
