Taylor Swift is seemingly embarking on another 'love story': she reportedly loves the single life!
The "Mine" singer recently ended a six-year relationship with actor Joe Alwyn. Many of Swift's songs are believed to be co-written with Alwyn; he reportedly used an alias credited as "William Bowrey." Many pieces were also inspired by the "Conversations With Friends" actor.
Reports of the relationship's demise began circulating earlier this month. News of their breakup arrived shortly after reports of a possible engagement began trickling into the rumor mill. The former couple allegedly engaged last summer, and those lucky few aware of the news had been "sworn to secrecy." The "Delicate" singer also reportedly only wore her engagement ring privately.
What Happened Between The Notoriously Private Duo?
Swift and Alwyn's split was reportedly amicable and wasn't dramatic.
Sources attribute the breakup to reported "differences" in the pair's personalities. The source also noted that the duo, who had begun quietly dating in 2016, also "weren't the right fit" for each other.
"They've had rough patches before and always worked things out, so friends thought they would take some time apart, but eventually come back together," the source also told People magazine.
The pair had gotten to know one another and fell in love during multiple low-key periods for the "Don't You" singer.
Swift took a break from public life while writing and recording 2017's "Reputation," A few years later, she experienced a massive creative period after the COVID-19 pandemic began—during these periods, they were allowed Swift and Alwyn to tend to their relationship.
"They had plenty in common and fell in love in a safe bubble while she was retreating from the world during 'Reputation,'" the source also explained. "Then the pandemic hit, and they were locked down together and able to continue growing their relationship in this insulated way. But he didn't 'know' her outside of this bubble," they added.
Swift Has Now Entered Her Single Gal Era!
The "You All Over Me" singer may now be in the middle of her highly-anticipated 'Eras Tour' professionally, and she's now transitioning into single life!
Swift was spotted earlier this week in New York City with her pals, the Haim sisters, Blake Lively and Gigi Hadid. Her outing with members of her 'girl squad' comes not long after she was spotted in the same city with her pal and producer Jack Antonoff. Her fashionable blue jeans quickly caught the attention of her 'Swiftie' fanbase and soon sold out.
Swift's newfound single girl status is reportedly sitting well with the "You're On Your Own, Kid" songstress.
A separate source provided what they knew about the state of Swift's heart.
"Taylor handles the breakup well and feels very optimistic about her future. She truly believes whatever is meant to be will be and knows everything happens for a reason," they revealed to Us Weekly. (via Cosmopolitan)
Even though she reportedly feels optimistic, Swift is "still adjusting to the single life."
At a tour stop earlier this month, Swift swapped one "folklore" track for another in the show's set list; Swift performed the first track, "The 1," instead of "invisible string." (via The Blast)
She also subtly acknowledged her feelings lately by reassuring a fan with a "U OK" sign that she was indeed feeling okay; she gave them a 'thumbs up' gesture. (per The Blast)
The source also confirmed Swift is taking her time before returning to the dating game!
"She isn't dating anybody and isn't dating anybody and isn't even thinking about getting into another relationship anytime soon," they revealed. The "Fearless" singer is also "really enjoying her freedom"! (via Elle)
Swifties were thrilled to see their grrrl hanging out with her aforementioned 'girl squad' and had plenty to say on social media!
"It's 2023, your husband comes up and smacks your butt as taylor swift fights the girl squad allegations, your friend has turned the dining room table into a beer pong tournament, the kids are laughing in the playroom, it's eras tour night. Your heart is full," a fan tweeted.
"oh yes, oh yes, it's 2015, the sun is shining, trump has never been president covid doesn't exist, I have never kissed a boy Taylor Swift is single, walking around lower manhattan with her girl squad all is right with the world," another shared, nostalgically.
"breakups and drama aside, the media will be ready to bring back headlines that say 'Taylor swift's girl squad is back,' and this will invite more conversation about how her friend grp is supposedly 'fake' like in the 1989 era. Be prepared to whack everyone for these ladies, sniffers," a fan shared.
