Alec Baldwin Thanks His Wife, Lawyer After ‘Rust’ Charges Dropped

On Thursday, special prosecutors Kari Morrissey and Jason Lewis revealed that they would be dropping the two involuntary manslaughter charges against actor Alec Baldwin (but not against "Rust" armorer Hannah Gutierrez-Reed, as clarified in a statement late Thursday night.)
Baldwin and his legal team had already won several legal battles against the Santa Fe District Attorney, including getting the firearm enhancement charge dropped after his lawyers successfully argued that it was "unconstitutional."
A few hours after the news was announced, the "30 Rock" actor took to Instagram to share a photo of his wife, Hilaria Baldwin, while thanking her and his lawyer, Luke Nikas.
Alec Baldwin Says ‘I Owe Everything’ To Hilaria Baldwin After ‘Rust’ Manslaughter Charges Are Dropped
A few hours after the news broke on Thursday, Alec Baldwin took to Instagram to share a small, blurry photo of him posing alongside his wife. In the caption, he wrote, “I owe everything I have to this woman. (and to you, Luke),” referring to his lawyer, Luke Nikas.
Although some fans offered congratulations, others mocked the low-quality photo. “You got any more pixels?” one fan asked. That being said, many fans said that they were “grateful” and “thankful” that the charges against him were dropped.
“I am such a fan of yours, I’m over the moon happy that all charges were dropped and you and your family can now live your lives in peace!” one fan exclaimed.
It’s worth noting that the charges were dropped without prejudice as the investigation into the fatal shooting of cinematographer Halyna Hutchins continues, so it’s possible that he could still face criminal charges in the future.
“It’s a good day Alec. You have always had our support. You’re both very blessed with a precious family,” another follower wrote. “So relieved for you but still amazed that it got this far,” another fan chimed in.
“I’m not really sure how to word this. I am pleased for you and your family…I hope Halyna’s family manages to find closure so everyone can grieve and move on. Devastating times for all of you,” another follower added.
Hilaria Baldwin Shares Heartfelt Photo After 'Rust' Charges
A few hours after Alec took to Instagram to share his post, the Boston native also took to her own Instagram account to share a photo of her sitting in Alec’s lap. She is sitting on one leg while she puts her bare feet against his other knee. Alec has his arms wrapped around her with his eyes closed.
In the caption, Hilaria left just a single red heart emoji as fans and famous friends expressed support for the family. “I love your love,” one fan commented. “Happy for you and your family,” another follower wrote. “Love you both to the stars and back,” a third fan chimed in.
“Oh my gosh, so much relief for your hearts, Hilaria,” another follower shared. “Wonderful news for your family and while we mourn the losses of that day - we can only move forward,” another fan added as her followers showered the post with red heart emojis of their own.
Alec Baldwin Celebrated Easter With His Family Earlier This Month
Although Alec Baldwin is about to resume filming “Rust” in Montana this week, he spent the Easter holiday with his family. “The only way I got them all in the picture, was to hold a large plastic tub of candy on my lap…my face is either congratulating myself for a moment of mommy genius, or wondering if the sugar high and crash later would be worth it…” she wrote in the caption.
“I love that by 7 kids, I’ve given up on the all looking at the camera and smiling, and just want them to be present in the photo,” she added. “Happy Easter y felices pascuas to all of you from us. Much love.”
“The Culpo Sisters” reality star Aurora Culpo joked, “Lol the way you’re staring off into the abyss is a feeling I know all too well.” Actress and singer Tori Spelling added, “I love you sooooo much.”
'Rust' To Resume Filming In Montana With New Cinematographer
"Rust" will resume filming at the Yellowstone Film Ranch in Montana this week, with most of the original cast and crew expected to return. Bianca Cline, who has worked on the critically acclaimed “Marcel the Shell With Shoes On,” will serve as the film's new cinematographer.
According to Rust Movie Productions, Cline will donate her salary to charity. Matthew Hutchins, the husband of Halyna, has reportedly given Cline his “blessing and support” to go forward in the position. Matthew will also be serving as executive producer on the film, as part of the wrongful death lawsuit that was settled last October.
That being said, the special prosecutors warned that there is the possibility that Baldwin may still face criminal charges again pending further investigation. Their full statement can be read here.
