The series stars Ramón Rodríguez ("Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen," "Iron Fist," "The Defenders") as the eponymous eccentric detective for the Georgia Bureau of Investigations (GBI). Special Agent Trent had a troubled youth, raised in the foster care system by abusive adults. He also struggles with dyslexia. Not to mention, he tends to be a pariah among the Atlanta Police Department for his role in taking down corrupt officers, so he's a pariah in the police department.

On top of that, Trent's longtime, on-again, off-again girlfriend is police detective Angie Polaski, who he grew up with in the foster care system. Polaski and Trent have a mutually convenient relationship, but Polaski is also a recovering drug addict battling with her own demons.
