Jesy Nelson Is 'Rooting' For Little Mix Band Members From A Distance

Jesy Nelson is on an island of her own! She hasn’t spoken to her former bandmates in years and doesn’t seem very bothered by it.
Jesy Nelson Is Moving Onward And Upward
The former member of Little Mix revealed that the sisterhood isn’t a sisterhood. Since quitting the band in 2020, she hasn’t talked to any of them and hasn’t seen any of them in person.
Keep in mind two of Nelson’s band members had babies. Perry Edwards and Leigh-Anne Pinnock welcomed bundles of joy, and Edwards got engaged and dealt with a horrifying break-in at her home.
“Being in a girl band, you are a machine going all the time,” Nelson told The Sun. “You don’t have a minute to breathe and take time out if you need space. That was something I struggled with.”
Nelson also addressed the mental health struggles she dealt with being in the band. “For me, my mental health issues were an ongoing thing while I was in Little Mix. I was struggling with my body issues and constantly being trolled – and I struggled with it.”
Jesy Nelson Had To Leave Little Mix
Nelson insisted that she holds no malice towards her time with the band, but when you have to go, you have to go. She did “what was right for me.” She elaborates, “So no, we haven’t talked since then.”
But, as mentioned earlier, Nelson holds no hate for the girls and even has an open mind to a possible meet-up one day. “Never say never, but I honestly wish them the best on their solo journeys now, which is exciting.”
She adds that she is “rooting for all of them” in motherhood and careers and whatever other endeavors the women get up to, but right now, Nelson is focused on her solo career, one that her band members have criticized her for.
Edwards, Pinnock, and final band member Jade Thirlwall slammed Nelson in late 2021 after she released her single “Boyz” featuring Nicki Minaj. They hit her for “blackfishing” in her music video.
Little Mix Unfollowed Jesy Nelson
Nelson further aggravated her former band members when she dropped the music video for “Boyz,” Her skin tone was… colorful, let’s say. Her “tan” was more profound than usual; according to Pinnock, Edwards, and Thirlwall, her whole look was offensive to people of color.
They eventually unfollowed her on all their social media accounts and moved on with the group without her. Meanwhile, Nelson getting dragged was far from over. Social media took over to call her out over her appearance and essentially tore into everything they could about her.
Some accused her of not even being the best of the group to go solo. Others were upset with Nicki Minaj for not checking homegirl when she walked out of that dressing room and onto the set. And many went in on her for dating Sean Sugar, a person of color, a relationship that started just ahead of the release of her new music at the time.
That relationship is over, and she is with fellow singer Zion Foster.
