Hollywood actor Joshua Jackson discussed his relationship with his wife, Jodie Turner-Smith. He admitted that before meeting Turner-Smith, he was not prepared for the commitment of marriage and starting a family.

However, the "Queen Slim" actress changed his mind, and they got married in 2019 and welcomed their first child, a daughter, in April 2020.

In a recent interview with The Sunday TimesJoshua Jackson opened up about how meeting his current wife, Jodie Turner-Smith, changed his perspective on marriage and starting a family. The "Fatal Attraction" star, who was in a decade-long relationship with actress Diane Kruger, admitted that his readiness to settle down was "partially" due to his age.

According to Jackson, he had never been particularly keen on the idea of marriage and children before meeting Turner-Smith. He explained that if they had met five years earlier, they might have had a brief fling, but he wouldn't have been ready for anything serious.

However, Jackson revealed that meeting Turner-Smith put everything in perspective for him. He credited their strong connection and the fact that they were both in the right place in their lives for his readiness to commit, stating, "I'm old enough to be able to do this. Partially it's about finding somebody in the right moment of life."

Per The Times, the couple first crossed paths at a charitable event in Los Angeles in 2018, introduced to each other by a mutual friend. Reminiscing, Jackson recalled, "In the beginning, we did this dance with each other like, 'Oh, this is casual.' Except that, we'd spend every moment together and find reasons to be in other cities together at the same time."

In January 2019, During a New Year's Eve celebration in Nicaragua, Turner-Smith unexpectedly proposed to Jackson and his answer was an unequivocal "yes." By August of the same year, the couple was seen leaving a courthouse in Beverly Hills, holding a document that appeared to be a marriage certificate.

The duo then welcomed their first child in April 2022. Reflecting on his relationship as husband and father, Jackson revealed that fatherhood had changed him in every possible way. "And now, we have this beautiful baby who is literally the manifestation of that love. It is impossible for me to look into the face of my child without feeling love for my wife," he shared.

During a conversation with Insider's Libby Torres in July 2021, the "Dr. Death" star opened up about the beginnings of his relationship with Turner-Smith. He shared that while they both felt an initial attraction when they first met, their relationship actually started as a "three-night stand."

In a separate interview on Seth Meyers show, Turner-Smith echoed Jackson's sentiment, recalling that she was immediately drawn to him when she first spotted the actor at a party. "First of all, I saw him before he saw me, and when I saw him, I was like, 'I want that,'" the "Queen Slim" actress remembered. "And then when he saw me, I just pretended like I didn't see him."

Despite the sexual energy that marked the beginning of their relationship, Jackson clarified that he plans to tell their child that he knew he wanted to be with Turner-Smith from the moment he saw her across the room, stating, "I saw your mother from across the room and just like knew I had to be with her."

During his interview with TheSunday TimesJackson expressed his thoughts on extramarital affairs, suggesting that they should not necessarily lead to the end of a relationship. "I think an affair can be forgiven," he said. Jackson explained his perspective, stating that "We're all grownups. No one wants to be cheated on, and there is a massive repair to be done."

The actor also emphasized that affairs are not solely about sex or the partner involved but rather a violation that runs much "deeper," and it's essential to understand the underlying issues that led to the affair in the first place and address them for proper healing to occur.
