Bad Bunny Seemingly Throws Shade At Harry Styles During Coachella Performance

During his headline performance at the Coachella festival on Friday, Latino superstar rapper Benito Antonio Ocasio, better known as Bad Bunny, appeared to throw shade at pop singer Harry Styles.

Bad Bunny officially became the first Latino artist to headline the festival, and during his performance, a tweet that insinuated he's more versatile than Styles popped up on the screen.

The Puerto Rican rapper, 29, seemingly threw shade at the former One Direction band member during his headlining Coachella performance.

Bad Bunny was performing "El Apagón" off his latest album, "Un Verano Sin Ti," when a tweet slamming Harry Styles appeared on the giant screen.

The tweet read, "Goodnight Benito could do as it was, but Harry could never do El Apagón," which implied Bad Bunny could have written Styles' hit song, but Styles could not do "El Apagón," making Bad Bunny more versatile.

Both artists faced off against one another at the recent Grammy Awards ceremony because their albums were up for the coveted Album of the Year honor. However, "Harry's House" by Styles took home the golden gramophone.

The Latino rapper also added fuel to the fire by starting his performance with a video intro that paid homage to previous headliners. Despite being one of the three headliners at last year's edition, Styles was ignored in the montage that paid tribute to Kendrick Lamar, Billie Eilish, and The Weeknd.

Bad Bunny made history by becoming the first Spanish-speaking artist to headline at Coachella. The "YHLQMDLG" singer first performed at the festival in 2019, but he was still widely regarded as a budding artist at the time.

Before he began performing, he notably paused to ask the crowd what language they'd prefer him to speak, English or Spanish, to which festival goers unanimously chose Spanish.

"Latinos have been rompiéndola (killing it) for some time now," he shared. "I just did a tour last year that I never imagined I'd be able to do. I've been out for some time, but I'm back, and it feels cabrón to be here tonight and that you're all here with me."

Also performing alongside the rapper were artists like Jhayco, Jowell & Randy, Ñengo Flow, and Post Malone.

The rapper, during his set, notably gave an emotional speech, clearing the air on past issues and pointing out that people shouldn't believe everything they hear.

"Humbly speaking, people think they know the lives of famous people, but they don't," he said emphatically, per Billboard. "They don't know what we feel, what we live through. They will never know what a heart can feel."

He continued, "Don't believe everything you hear. You won't get to know the real me through a video on Instagram, an interview, or a TikTok. If you really want to get to know me, I invite you to my home."

Bad Bunny also used the opportunity to clear the air about a recent interview he gave where he said he didn't feel strongly about the lyrics of one of his songs.

"I don't regret anything. I don't even regret my errors because you learn from your mistakes. The last thing I'd regret is writing this song," he stated, referring to "El Apagón."

The "Narcos: Mexico" actor will need to lawyer up as he's reportedly being sued to the tune of $40 million by his ex-girlfriend, Carliz De La Cruz Hernández, for using her voice recording without permission.

Between 2011 and 2016, Bad Bunny and Hernandez dated, and during that time, he allegedly asked her to record herself saying, "Bad Bunny baby." The rapper used her voice recording in two of his songs, "Pa Ti" and "Dos Mil 16," which have both earned about 1 billion streams on YouTube and Spotify.

The lawsuit partly reads, "Thousands of people have commented directly on Carliz's social media networks, as well as every time she goes to a public place, about 'Bad Bunny, baby.' This has caused and currently causes De La Cruz to feel worried, anguished, intimidated, overwhelmed, and anxious."

Amid his legal troubles, Bad Bunny seems to have found a new belle as he has been linked to model, Kendall Jenner. The duo has been spotted kissing and enjoying each other's company on several occasions.
