Nickelodeon star Drake Bell reportedly threatened suicide before he was reported missing, which explains why police officers were worried about his well-being.
Daytona Beach police initially declared Bell “missing and endangered” on Thursday morning, after he was last seen Wednesday evening around 9 p.m., somewhere in the area of Mainland High School, driving a 2022 gray BMW.
911 Call Reveals Drake Bell Threatened Suicide
The 911 call made to inform authorities that he was missing revealed that prior to his “disappearance”, Drake Bell had a falling out with his estranged wife, and then proceeded to tell his family he was going to get drunk and hang himself.
TMZ obtained the 911 call and reported the officer involved spoke with another department as they tried to get a location on Bell’s cell phone, declaring the situation as a “possible attempted suicide”.”Basically, there is a celebrity who had a falling out with his wife,” the report stated.
The police got involved after they were informed Bell was in an Orlando hotel room and had been texting his family, who are back in California, threatening suicide. Us Weekly also reported that Bell’s family had been on alert prior to Daytona Police locating him safely. The source told the outlet, “There was some communication with family members that caused concern so they are worried about him and looking for him.”
He had allegedly failed to inform some of his family members that he arrived in Florida, the outlet also reported.
This new information explains why the police were so concerned for Bell’s safety and why he was considered “missing and endangered”.
Drake Bell Seemingly Jokes About Incident
Luckily, Drake Bell was found safe a few hours after the initial report broke Thursday afternoon. He later spoke out about the incident on social media, saying … “You leave your phone in the car and don’t answer for the night and this?”
The 36-year-old just pled guilty to an attempted child endangerment case, in which he just completed his probation. Bell allegedly engaged in inappropriate conduct in a club where he was scheduled to perform with a girl under 18, with whom he allegedly had an online relationship with.
“Today I accept this plea because my conduct was wrong,” Bell said in the courtroom at the time of his sentncing. “I’m sorry that the victim was harmed in any way — that was obviously not my intention,” he said. “I have taken this matter very very seriously, and again I just want to apologize to her and anyone else who may have been affected by my actions.”
Drake Bell Receives Treatment
In December last year, the actor was caught inhaling the gas from a balloon while driving with his son in the car.
Earlier this year, The Blast reported Bell allegedly went in for treatment to help with his issues. It was also reported that Bell’s wife, Janet Von Schmeling, separated from him.
Per reports, the pair separated as the singer and actor struggled with his personal issues. Bell entered “treatment” while Von Schmeling moved back home to Florida with their son.
