Half of the world and her fans have already heard her brand-new song, “Bad Thing,” which came out on April 14th.

Everyone in the USA is patiently waiting until midnight.

From the teasers Jesy’s dropped, “Bad Thing” is a completely different sound than we’ve ever heard before. I’d go as far as to say, “Bad Thing” is giving me some Billie Eilish “No Time To Die” vibes.

She’s been teasing her new song for weeks, and deleted everything from her Instagram account to do so.

"Bad Thing" Is A Far Cry From "Boyz"

As previously mentioned, this song marks her “re-debut” since releasing her first solo EP, “Boyz.”

The Blast previously reported on the backlash over the song, the music video and accusations of “Blackfishing.”

She released the song in October 2021 and it was immediately met with immense and harsh criticism.

“Blackfishing” is a term commonly used to describe someone on social media who is pretending to be black by changing their appearance by using makeup, editing, or even surgery.

After Jesy’s song dropped, her former bandmate Leigh-Anne Pinnock allegedly accused her of blackfishing in the music video through supposed DMs with an influencer.

After this happened, things went very south.

Jesy took Instagram Live with Nicki Minaj to issue an apology.

During the IG Live she said, “I personally want to say that my intention was never, ever to offend people of color with this video and my song because like I said, growing up as a young girl, this is the music that I listened to. These are the videos that I watched and thought were the best.”

She insisted that the darker skin tone and hairstyles she sported in the video had nothing to do with her trying to integrate herself into the black culture, it’s just what she knows.
