Mariah Carey Has Reportedly Scrapped Plan To Gain Primary Custody Of Her Twins

Mariah Carey has reportedly decided not to sue her ex-husband Nick Cannon for primary custody of their kids. The singer asked the comedian to make more time for their twins, as he's now a father to 12.

Despite their current joint custody agreement, Carey had planned to file for full custody of their twins earlier this year.

Mariah Carey has terminated her plans to sue ex-husband Nick Cannon for primary custody of their twins, Moroccan and Monroe. Sources close to Carey recently revealed to RadarOnline that the "We Belong Together" singer changed her mind about seeking primary custody.

According to a report by the news outlet earlier this year, sources close to the award-winning vocalist claimed she'd threatened Cannon with a complete custody petition. This legal battle would have rattled the former couple's joint custody arrangement, which they agreed on during their 2014 divorce.

At the time, a source said, "The reality of the situation is that Monroe and Moroccan are usually with Mariah anyway. But she wants to put him on notice that he can't just flit in and out of their lives while he attends to his other children. And she wants legal standing as the twins' primary caregiver."

Carey previously asked Cannon to "carve out" more time for their children because she knows his hands are full with his other kids. Inside sources claimed she made it clear to Cannon that Moroccan and Monroe should get to see him and spend time with him.

A source close to Cannon said the "The Masked Singer" host thinks "it's crazy wonderful having all these kids" and is prepared to keep up with all his children. He's previously filmed and shared TikToks of his time with Monroe and Moroccan, showing them learning viral dances and trying different trends.

In one TikTok video, Cannon, Monroe, and Moroccan danced to a fast version of Chris Brown's "Run It," which he struggled to keep up with. The kids wrote on the video, "Dad never keeps up with TikToks," while Cannon captioned a shot of it, "Making this was very chaotic!"

A source claimed to RadarOnline that Carey's boyfriend and backup dancer, Bryan Tanaka, was the brain behind the primary custody move. They said, "Bryan wanted her to go for full custody so he could get some space from Nick. But she hasn't pulled the trigger, and Bryan's understandably upset."

Another source shared that Tanaka is furious about Carey choosing not to file, but the "Obsessed" singer "doesn't seem to care." They explained that the 39-year-old is "tired of feeling like second best" to Cannon and thinks he and Carey still have unfinished business.

The source said, "It's been the elephant in the room for years now and the main reason he hasn't proposed or had kids with Mariah himself." "Mariah and Nick are on the phone constantly, and they get affectionate whenever he comes to town to see the kids. Mariah dislikes Bryan being around when Nick's there, which fuels his paranoia."

In December last year, Cannon welcomed another child, a baby girl, with Alyssa Scott, making him the father of 12 kids with six different women over 11 years.

Cannon first had Moroccan and Monroe with Carey in 2011, then had multiple kids with other women afterward. He's had children with Brittany Bell, Bre Tiesi, Abby De La Rosa, and LaNisha Cole. He and Scott previously had a son, Zen, who was his 7th, but the baby boy died at five months old.

Shortly after Zen's tragic death from brain cancer, Scott made an emotional Instagram tribute to her baby boy. In the post, she wrote, "It's a painful reminder that you are no longer here … It has been an honor and privilege being your mommy. I will love you for eternity."

After the delivery of his 12th child, Cannon has made it quite clear that there is still a possibility he could have even more kids as only "God" can decide when he should stop having children.
