Kristoff St. John had received professional help for threatening to hurt himself days before he drank himself to death.

According to the coroner's report into the soap star's death, St. John had been admitted to the Las Encinas Mental Health Hospital on January 26, 2019 for "threatening to hurt himself and alcohol abuse."

St. John was released days later, on February 1, and returned to his home. It's not the first time St John had to be hospitalized, as the corner's report notes that he has been placed on 72-hour holds in the past.

Back in 2017, St. John was put on a psychiatric hold after threatening to shoot himself after battling depression around the anniversary of his son's death.

As we reported, Mia St. John and Kristoff sued the psychiatric hospital where their son committed suicide, and the boy's death had a profound impact on Kristoff.

The report states St. John had a history of bipolar disorder, alcohol abuse and suicidal threats.

When the "Young and the Restless" star was found unresponsive on the floor of his home by Mia St. John and a friend on Super Bowl Sunday, they tried to administer resuscitative measures, but he was unfortunately gone.

During the investigation, officials noted that St. John was taking anti-depressants and medication to help with bipolar disorder.

During the toxicology, it was determined that St. John had 4-times the legal limit of alcohol in his system. As we reported, his death is being ruled an accident because officials believe he was in the middle of an alcohol binge when the death occurred.

St. John's official cause of death was hypertrophic heart disease, and officials determined his heart showed major signs of alcohol abuse.
