Mama June Shannon Is Doting On Cancer-Stricken Daughter Anna Cardwell

June "Mama June" Shannon vows to be there for her daughter Anna "Chickadee" Cardwell amid her stage 4 cancer diagnosis.

The reality TV family is in a crisis after learning that their oldest sister Cardwell was diagnosed with rare adrenal carcinoma. Stage 4 cancer is in her liver, kidneys, and lungs.

She was diagnosed in January and underwent her first round of chemotherapy recently. The mom of two didn't immediately share the news for obvious reasons, but recently baby sister Alana "Honey Boo Boo" Thompson shared a message about the devastating news.

"This is what I mean when I say you never truly know what somebody is going through at home. No matter how famous they are. Yes, I'm very famous, but normal s*** happens to my family and me, and you all need to realize that ASAP."

The 17-year-old's confirmation of her sister's illness is the only one we got so far besides Cardwell sharing a selfie on IG story of her appearing in the hospital—a throwback to her first chemo treatment a few years ago.

The newlywed is shortening her marital bliss to be there for her daughter. According to TMZ, an insider shared that Mama June is "stepping up." She "immediately knew she had to be there for her daughter after the diagnosis, and feels the past is simply in the past."

The source continued. "She's doing whatever she can to help, including watching Anna's kids."

The past the source refers to is when Mama June engaged in a relationship with Mark McDaniel in 2021. This is the man that Cardwell allegedly identified to her mom as someone who sexually assaulted her at some point in her life.

For her sanity, the 28-year-old decided to step back from her mom and the new man in her life. Plus, she has two young daughters to protect.

Mama June has since broken up with that man and met and married a new man named Justin Stroud.

While Cardwell has not shared much information about her diagnosis, she did mention one of the most significant downsides to her treatment. Her hair is already coming out in "chunks," she revealed. She shared photos of her hair and clumps rolled up in balls on the bed.

She shared a selfie from her hospital bed and looked in great spirits. Thankfully, she and her mom made up before she figured out the horrible diagnosis, already having formed a more solidified bond for at least a year.

Cardwell also shared that she knew something was wrong when experiencing horrible stomach pains for a while, leading to the diagnosis. Cardwell is a mom to two daughters, aged 10 and 7. They regularly appear on her social media, and the reality star expresses her pride in their milestones.
