Britney Spears' Baby Daddy 'Commends' Star for Seeking Help While He Cares for Kids

Britney Spears is getting support while seeking out treatment at a mental health facility, as Kevin Federline is praising his baby mama for recognizing she needed to get help.

K-Fed's attorney, Mark Vincent Kaplan, tells The Blast, "Kevin commends Britney for recognizing that she needs to take a step back and that she is taking the reasonable steps to deal with her situation in a responsible way."

We're told the former couple's two children, Sean and Jayden, are currently "safe" and being cared for by their father. While the "Oops ... I Did It Again" singer is receiving treatment for ongoing mental health issues.

Sources very close to the situation tell us Federline has taken 90% of the custody while Spears works on herself.

Spears and Federline recently wrapped up a long round of negotiations over money that even included the singer's father, Jamie Spears, trying to offer Federline a small stipend to stop the legal battle. In the end, Spears ended up paying "thousands" more per month, plus covering her ex-husband's legal fees.

For now, it appears Federline is fully supporting Spears on her road to recovery and is making things easier by taking the kids off her hands.
