You can’t change the past … but Disney is doing a pretty good job of rebooting “The Lion King” and their first trailer hits you right in the nostalgic feels.
The first real look at Simba and the gang dropped Wednesday morning, which also featured an ominous narration by Chiwetel Ejiofor, who voices Scar.
The familiar voice of James Earl Jones is then heard, as he reprises his role of the wise Mufasa and tells a young Simba, “Everything you see exists together in a delicate balance.”
In a tribute to the 1994 trailer, viewers are given a very familiar look at “The Lion King,” including a grown Simba and Nala first meeting and locking eyes.
Timon & Pumbaa are revealed, voiced by Billy Eichner and Seth Rogen, but don’t belt out their famous “Hakuna Matata.”
Beyoncé, who voices Nala, is not featured … but you didn’t think they were going to give away Queen Bey on the first look?!
“The Lion King” premieres July 19.
