Hailey Bieber Breaks Her Silence On 'Ongoing Narrative' With Selena Gomez

Hailey Bieber has finally addressed fan backlash regarding her relationship with Selena Gomez.

The Blast has covered several aspects of the duo's alleged feud over the last month. Speculation that the two women have harbored ill will toward one another has been a fixture in popular culture since 2018. Gomez ended her on-and-off again relationship with Justin Bieber, and the "Yummy" singer started publicly dating Hailey (neé Baldwin) only a few months later. The couple would wed in September.

Both women have addressed speculation of a feud multiple times over the years and even posed for a photo together, taken at an event, last year.

The subject of an alleged feud between Mrs. Bieber and Gomez gained renewed interest last month following Bieber's friend, Kylie Jenner, posting an Instagram story about her eyebrows. Her post coincided with a TikTok Gomez had posted wherein she had laminated eyebrows.

Social media users began speculating Jenner and Bieber had been intentionally targeting Gomez with an ensuing Instagram Story post from Jenner's account. Gomez and Jenner both later denied any strife between them.

On Friday morning, Gomez took to her Instagram stories to write a note addressing the matter.

Gomez wrote, "Hailey Bieber reached out to me and let me know she has been receiving death threats and such hateful negativity. This isn't what I stand for," she continued. "No one should have to experience hate or bullying. I've always advocated for kindness and want all of this to stop," the "Rare" singer concluded.

Gomez has been publicly transparent about her mental health struggles. Her mental health journey was the subject of an Apple+ documentary released last fall. She has also abstained from using social media, leaving maintenance to her team.

Bieber issued a response of her own on Friday afternoon.

After being notoriously silent for the last few weeks amid allegations she had intentionally "copied" several aspects of Gomez's life and career, Bieber took to her Instagram stories to set the record straight.

The Rhode Skin founder wrote in a text post, "I want to thank Selena for speaking out, as she and I have been discussing the last few weeks how to move past this ongoing narrative between her and I," she began.

"The last few weeks have been very hard for everyone involved, and millions of people are seeing so much hate around this, which is extremely harmful. While social media is an incredible way to connect and build community, moments like this create extreme division instead of bringing people together," Bieber continued.

"Things can always be taken out of context or construed differently than they were intended. We all need to be more thoughtful about what we post and what we say, including myself. In the end, I believe love will always be bigger than hate and negativity, and there is always an opportunity to meet each other with more empathy and compassion," Bieber's statement concludes.

As of this writing, Justin Bieber has not officially addressed the matter publicly.

Bieber would also be criticized for an out-of-context clip that began circulating on TikTok wherein she could visibly express her distaste over Gomez's close friend Taylor Swift.

Bieber previously denied rumors of a feud in an interview with the "Call Your Daddy" podcast. She told host Alex Cooper, "It's all respect. It's all love" between the two.

Gomez has also addressed online bullying she has received several times on social media.
