It was a photo absolutely no one expected to ever see: Selena Gomez all smiles and snuggled up to none other than Mrs. Justin Bieber, herself, Hailey!
In a move that would make Regina George go straight to the infamous burn book to vent her frustration or could have the power to rewrite the ironclad rules of ‘girl code,’ Gomez and Baldwin- Bieber arguably broke the internet last month when they posed for a photo together at a party.
The photographic evidence of peace symbolized a sense of harmony between the duo, a bold statement without really being a statement at all.
The photo served as a bowling ball barreling toward the bowling pins which represent a years-long bounty of rumors alleging bad blood between the twosome.
In case anyone may need a refresher over why SelGo and Mrs. Beibz’ may have had some sour feelings toward one another in the past, hang on to your hat! Justin, 28, and Gomez, 30, famously dated for an eternity in Hollywood. Their four-year-long relationship was filled with ups and downs, with a few break-ups in between.
Bieber and his future missus knew each other at the time and were frequently spotted out and about together, particularly during periods when he and Gomez were believed to be dunzo.
The Relationship Timeline Inspiring A Need For Lots Of Tea
The duo had exchanged vows by the Fall of 2018 and were ready to move forward with their lives together.
However, the newly-minted Mrs. Bieber wouldn’t be able to concentrate on living a life full of wedded bliss, nor could Gomez fully navigate the single life or new relationships without having to face the fact the internet seemed dead set in perpetuating the narrative that the two women hated one another.
Did These Ladies Ever Actually Have Issues With One Another?

Let’s face it, the internet loves a good ol’ dose of drama!
For the Biebers and Gomez, the trio seemed endlessly locked in a perpetuating cycle of alleged backstabbing, dishonesty, and disbelief, courtesy of internet critics and extremely loyal ‘stans.’
The Biebers were bombarded with hateful comments shortly after their wedding, thus beginning a seemingly endless cycle where they would both publicly address their haters. One notable example took place in 2019 after Justin snapped back at a critical fan on Instagram who alleged he only got married to “get back at SG.”
Bieber said, “I don’t like to even give it my energy” in reference to the hateful rhetoric he has received regarding his treatment of both women.
Gomez and Mrs. Bieber would spend years indirectly addressing the internet’s fascination with and treatment of one another. It wasn’t until 2022 that both women would begin to openly discuss each other.
Bieber addressed the legions of TikTok comments she receives wherein Gomez is mentioned back in April.
“Enough time has gone by, I’m minding my own business. I didn’t do anything. I don’t say anything. Leave me alone, please,” she told fans in a TikTok. (via Seventeen)
The outlet also detailed how Gomez made a similar move on TikTok a month later when she “turned off the comments because of fans who read into the innocent [skincare routine] video…”
Bieber would set the record straight about her relationship with Gomez in a popular interview with the “Call Her Daddy” podcast.
“It’s all respect, it’s all love,” she would tell podcast host Alex Cooper. “That’s also why I feel like if everybody on our side knows what happened and we’re good and we could walk away from it with clarity and respect, then, like, that’s fine. You’re never going to be able to correct every narrative and there’s going to be new ones that come. It’s never gonna end and that’s why I get to the point- that’s why I don’t speak about a lot of this stuff.”
Let’s Talk About That Photo!

The aforementioned picture which dominated social media of Gomez and Bieber together is just that… a photo.
Gomez attempted to curb the internet’s fascination with the photo by emphasizing how little meaning there is behind it.
“It’s not even a thing,” Gomez told Vulture via Page Six ahead of the November 4th “My Mind And Me” premiere, Gomez’s candid Apple+ documentary about her mental health.
The Biebers and Gomez are all dedicated to going forward, like the now-famous photo of Selena Gomez and Hailey Bieber together. It’s “all love!”
