The next slide continued her story and how pageantry helped her. "As she got older, she discovered pageantry. It was the perfect mix that allowed her little world to exist IN the real world AND in a socially acceptable manner," she continued. "Not only that, but there were rules. And once she learned them, she didn't have to guess on how to be."

She continued to explain how pageantry taught her important things such as making eye contact, disguising repetitive movements, and how to speak to others with appropriate responses. "She was on her way to be a professional masker, accidentally tricking the world into believing she was neurotypical," she wrote. "She didn't understand how the real world worked, but she was gifted in pattern recognition."

Bryiana explained that she received death threats in junior high school, realizing people didn't accept the real her, so she "carefully crafted one they would by watching movies and shows where the underdog with potential had her glow up and finally became accepted."

"For 31 years everyone thought she was perfectly fine," her story continued. "A little weird and too old to be such a picky eater and so princess-y, entirely too dependent on schedules, structure and systems, and rigid in her black and white thinking, but all things considered, they passed as personality flaws rather than what they really were because in the early 90s girls were not diagnosed autistic."

After explaining what led to this diagnosis, she said she was formally diagnosed in December 2022. "I'm still new to this journey and have three decades of learning, unlearning and re-learning to do, so I ask for your patience and grace as I go down this new path to rediscover myself...the me I was always meant to be," she wrote.

She concluded her Instagram slides by saying, "I've been so scared to come out with this publicly because it wasn't received well when I first shared it with some of the closest people to me and that really hurt. But I've finally reached the acceptance phase of my ASD late diagnosis and am filled with more hope and peace than ever before. So if you see me acting different, it's because I am."
