Nick Lachey Must Take The Classes 'Within A Reasonable Time'
Nick has been compelled to take anger management classes and Alcoholics Anonymous meetings after his brash reaction to a paparazzo taking pictures of him and his wife, Vanessa Lachey, leaving a restaurant.
The incident between the American singer and the Paparazzo named Jody Santos happened last year on March 27 in Beverly Hills. Santos subsequently filed a report with the Beverly Hills Police, who charged the singer with assault and battery.
Seeing that Nick did not receive any formal punishment for his actions, Santos hassled the Beverly Hills Police Department for months until she received a reply that the tv personality had been ordered to take classes to deal with his anger.
"He has to complete [anger management and AA] within a reasonable time, which is like a year or so," Santos told the Daily Mail. "If he fails to do so, they will move forward to prosecute him with noncompliance, and he will get arrested."
Paparazzo Recalls Nick Lachey Going Ballistic
Santos, in her chat with the publication, recounted her side of the story, saying that at the time of the incident, she was on a routine drive around Beverly Hills looking to take pictures of celebrities leaving fancy restaurants.
Upon seeing Nick and Vanessa step out of the famous Mastro's Steakhouse, she pulled across the street and took snapshots of the duo.
However, once Nick noticed her, he approached her car "all aggressive," seemingly looking to get physical with Santos.
"I immediately locked my door and rolled up my window as fast as I could. He then started punching the window," the Paparazzo recalled the "Masked Singer" alum's reaction, adding that she was "surprised he didn't shatter the window."
Santos also shared that Nick called her foul names and tried to "grab her cell phone" after she rolled down the window a bit to talk to him. She also recalled smelling alcohol on his breath.
Nick Lachey Is Yet To Apologize To The Paparazzo
On his part, Nick claimed that Santos "harassed" him, his wife, and a dear friend at the dinner by taking unsolicited pictures of them. But he did admit that his reaction to the incident should have been more reasonable.
"I clearly overreacted. I've been in this game long enough to know that their antics are sadly part of the deal. Stupid of me. Done," the singer tweeted a day after the altercation with Santos, per Daily Mail.
Although Nick addressed the issue online at the time, it appears he is yet to apologize to Santos.
"Until this day, Nick hasn't taken any responsibility. He's justified it. He thought this was done, but it's not done," the photographer said
"A personal apology was declined, then a written apology was declined. No one from his team has reached out and asked, 'Are you ok?'"
'He Needs To Take Accountability For His Actions'
In her interview, Santos also explained why she hassled the police department for months until something was done. "I want Nick to know that it's not okay to come after a photographer, let alone a female one, and use foul, sexist language," she said.
The photographer also claimed that Nick "twisted the truth and put the blame" on her in his tweet.
She added, "He needs to take accountability for his actions. It's one thing to be violent towards a woman and call her foul names, and it's another when you blame the other person and lie about what really happened."
She also pointed out that the singer "is not above the law and as a father and a public figure [and] the least he can do is be a decent human being."
