Marcus Mumford Channels His Inner-Rock Star For 'Daisy Jones & The Six's Music!

Mumford ditched the banjos as he helped Daisy Jones & The Six's musical stylings come to life!

Mumford wrote the lyrics for the band's massive hit "Look At Us Now (Honeycomb)" along with songwriter Blake Mills. The Grammy award winning songwriter has written multiple songs for indie sensations Band of Horses, and one Mr. Robert Zimmerman, Bob Dylan, himself!

Discussing the song's writing process, Mumford recalled that the duo had originally written "Look At Us Now (Honeycomb)" to be imaged in a particular style. Mumford and Mills' original vision for the tune comes to life in a brand new rendition, featuring Mumford and a duet partner whose vocal stylings he knew would fit the tune right out of the gate.

Who Is Mumford's Duet Partner?

The former Mumford and Sons frontman enlisted a certain country singer to help him bring his original vision for the song to life!

Grammy award-winning sensation Maren Morris was able to fit the bill! Morris snagged three Grammy nominations for her latest album "Humble Quest" last year. She was nominated for Best Country Album for the LP, and two awards for "Circles Around This Town," Best Country Song, and Best Country Solo Performance.

Mumford also shared his thoughts about Morris' inclusion in the song.

"...This time around, we stripped the song right back down to acoustic guitar and vocal- which is how it was written- and then kind of built it back up from there until we landed on an arrangement we liked. I've been a fan of Maren for a long time- both her solo music and her work with The Highwomen- and this duet needed a voice like hers. We're just honestly so thankful she agreed to do it," Mumford said in a press release for the duet.

Morris also shared her thoughts on the experience, expressing her admiration for how "Daisy Jones & The Six" authentically portrays the musician lifestyle.

She says, "Shows depicting the reality of what it takes to become a band or what it's really like touring can so often get it wrong. One of the components of 'Daisy Jones' is that they chose to ground this fictional universe with real songwriting. The music in the show that Blake Mills created and the incredible performances by the actors give the world a heartbreaking authenticity. I'm so honored to have gotten to sing on 'Look At Us Now' with Marcus." (via CONSEQUENCE)

Morris shared a behind-the-scenes reel of the recording session on Instagram Friday morning.

In the reel, shot for Amazon Music, Morris reveals she had met Mumford for the first time when the duo recorded their rendition.

"I love being in the room and singing with someone live," Morris said. "I really think you get those magical moments when two singers are in the studio together, facing each other, singing at one another. Every take felt like a new beginning of something."

Mumford also gave his praise for the Daisy Jones & The Six's version, calling it a "face-melting" version!
