After Madonna revealed that she would embark on a global tour beginning in July, the filming of her autobiography was put on hold in January.

At the time, Universal Pictures was developing the movie, and the singer decided to take the helm as the director herself. However, after the aforementioned 40th-anniversary tour, the film was shelved.

The Sun claims that due to the "Back That Up To the Beat" singer's bizarre "circus antics" on social media and her excessive control over the production, the movie was never going to be released.

According to a source who spoke with the media outlet, Madonna's contentious social media posts left Universal executives "scratching their heads," and her "near-total" control over the project left them with no other option than to scrap it.

"Madonna did herself no favors by acting weird on social media during this entire process," the source shared. "She signed a contract to make this film, and that should have been the signal to her to stop the circus antics, stop chasing likes, and just buckle down and get this movie into shape."

The insider added, "Her funny Instagram posts are always catnip for her die-hard fans, but they didn't play well at Universal. The studio bosses were watching what Madonna posted over these months where she was supposed to be writing and were left scratching their heads."

The "Ozark" star is keeping her hopes alive that the scrapped biopic will be revisited and work continued on it.

In an interview with Harper's Bazaar, Garner admitted that she doesn't know much about the highly anticipated project.

"She's going on tour," Garner replied when asked how she felt about not stepping into the role this year. "It's so funny, to be completely honest... People ask me these questions like I know this information that no one else knows, but the reality is that what I know is what you know. So, there's nothing... There's no new information."

Garner, 28, was recently interviewed by Entertainment Tonight's Denny Directo at the just concluded Vanity Fair Oscars after-party, where she shared her thoughts on the furtherance of work on the biopic.

Casting For The Role Was Tough

According to the Daily Mail, Garner reportedly underwent a torturous audition process for the singer's visual autobiography.

In order to land the role, she had to ward off competition from "Euphoria" actresses Sydney Sweeney and Alexa Demie and "Don't Worry, Darling" star Florence Pugh, to mention a few.

Auditions and preparations for filming reportedly took about 11 hours of choreography sessions where the actress and cast members had to sing in front of Madonna.

According to Entertainment Tonight, the music star shared what she wanted out of the film, noting that the focus would be on music.

Madonna said she wanted the biopic to "convey the incredible journey that life has taken me on as an artist, a musician, a dancer, a human being, trying to make her way in this world."

She continued, "The focus of this film will always be music. Music has kept me going, and art has kept me alive. There are so many untold and inspiring stories, and who better to tell it than me? It's essential to share the roller coaster ride of my life with my voice and vision."
